Oh its an option is it?

Like paying your taxes is an option, right? You pay a penalty for not participating on April 15, too.
Yes, it's an option for both individuals and companies.
Ok now I see where you are coming from-

there are no laws or requirements - only options - choosing some options carry penalties, others do not

that actually explains a lot about progressives

maybe you should be teaching common core

Have I argued there are no laws? I'll help you out with that one.

No.

You're welcome.

For further reading, I suggest you google "ACA" and "self insured". There are also some interesting articles on "self insured loophole".

I love your meaningless semantic arguments in these threads. Youre like the liberal JSO

its like you cant help yourself

again, Cruz is obeying the law. He also wants to get rid of the IRS. Will you and your string pullers at Skate get the vapors on April 15 when he files his 1040?

Yes there are some interesting articles on the self insured. The really interesting thing is that those articles are about businesses with employees. Ted Cruz is an INDIVIDUAL, and INDIVIDUALS can NOT self insure.

Yes he can. He would simply have to pay a penalty.

Not one single word about individuals being able to "self-insure".

No, but he can pay out-of-pocket and then pay the fine if he wishes. Then again he won't be abiding by the law, and people like you would be bleating about how he isn't following the law...unfit to run for president because he's a criminal, etc... :tothehand:

He doesn't have to be on Obamacare.

He can purchase insurance privately if he wants.

And, he's now considering doing just that. Y'all arguing that he has no choice are simply wrong.

He doesn't have a choice to:
1. Keep his doctor.
2. Pick the plan he and his family want.
3. Pay out-of-pocket without disobeying the law.

Oh and kalm, I checked again. Yeah, you're still wrong.

Oh and kalm, I checked again. Yeah, you're still wrong.
That's exactly what he's doing. And, it turns out it may just be the Obamacare exchange in DC - since he would get a FEDERAL SUBSIDY to do so. :coffee:

He can sign up for a private policy outside of an exchange - but, it will be much more expensive for him.

The first-term senator from Texas said he is looking at options available on a health insurance exchange, or a clearinghouse of policies available to Americans who don't receive coverage through their employers. The Democrats' health care law, also known as Obamacare, created the exchange system.

Under an amendment to the law crafted by Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, the government can only offer members of Congress and their staff health care insurance that's sold through an exchange.

"We will presumably go on the exchange and sign up for health care, and we're in the process of transitioning over to do that," Cruz said in an interview with I.

Cruz could go without insurance, or his family could get its coverage directly from an insurance company at what would likely be a far higher rate than is available via an exchange. Doing so would mean Cruz would not get the contribution from his employer to help offset the full cost of his coverage.

Asked about his plans for health care insurance on Tuesday, Cruz's staff initial pointed reporters to his interview with the Register. Several hours later, Rick Tyler, a Cruz spokesman, said Cruz and his family had not yet settled on an option or the financial implications of such a choice.

1. No, he has to pick a "government approved" plan, period. He has no say so in the matter.
2. Cruz has already gone on the record saying that he will not take a subsidy if he goes on Obamacare.

Is there anything else you need to know? :coffee:
