Serious question. How can people as dumb as Roy Moore and Louie Gohmert become judges?

Because dumb is relative and they're in Alabama.

Moore is not dumb. He's just one of the few smart enough to understand that the Federal Judiciary is off the rails and exercising a level of power totally out of line with what those who crafted our Constitution intended for it. What we need is MORE people like him who will push back. What he's doing is probably futile because we're not going to get that. We're going to continue to have most people including most politicians behave as sheep and cow tow to what has become government by Federal Judicial Oligarchy.

He swore to uphold the US and Alabama Constitutions. And there is a huge difference between upholding the US Constitution and upholding the unconstitutional holdings of the US Federal Judiciary. If you really follow the Constitution you're going to demand that the Federal Judiciary be slapped back into its intended position and quit taking its crap.

BTW, ceasing the practice of calling people dumb because they disagree with us would serve all well. Moore is a West Point grad and Gohmert is a Baylor Law School grad. Those may not be as selective as Harvard and Yale but they are still highly selective institutions. You are not getting in unless you have demonstrated aptitude that suggests you're way above average in terms of intelligence.

To me, what's foolish is continuing to accept the idea of government by oligarchy; the idea that the direction of society should be determined by unelected and unaccountable officials who are not at all restrained by what the Constitution actually says or by any honest effort to proceed according to the understanding of those who crafted and ratified any given language from it. We are governed by the personal philosophies of people who have no accountability at all cramming their own beliefs down the throats of the People.

I won't say anybody who thinks we are governed by the Constitution at this point is dumb but they sure are way off the mark. The Constitution has become just a word that's used to lend some air of credibility to Judicial edicts.

The US gone oligarchical is rather old news, Bubba. SCOTUS put the government up for sale to the highest bidder years ago. :coffee:

I don't care where they went to school. I called them dumb based on their own words and desire to limit other people's rights based on mythology. Ain't american, John.

The position taken by our Founders in the Declaration, Constitution and Bill of Rights is that (Christian or Diest) mankind received all those rights from A higher power and it was the Kings and dictators of the day that took them from mankind.

So, you either accept that we have all these rights, or you accept that government gives you your rights...

I accept that I have the rights and I allow the government to put restrictions on certain rights...but that We, The People retain the power to remove/restrict that authority we granted the government.

Rights are not granted...

You can't be serious. Seriously. Are you seriously going to say that you think you're going to find a single student at West Point that's not of above average IQ? Think about it. You go to West Point right now and give everybody there an IQ test. Do you REALLY believe you're going to get any results that aren't above average?

Same with the Ivies.

There is no legitimate "right" to force other people to recognize any particular relationship you're in as having any particular status. There is a right to engage in the relationship. But there is no right to force other people to recognize your relationship as "marriage."

You talk about denial of liberty and denial of rights. The real denial of liberty and rights associated with this thing is stuff like we've seen where people who don't believe in it are forced to participate. Things like Christian florists who believe it to be a sin forced to provide flowers for a homosexual wedding. THAT is the denial of rights. THAT is a denial of liberty.

Simply saying, "We are not going to call your relationship 'marriage'" is not.

As I said, Jefferson was not an Evangelical Christian, but he was a believer. He was Anglican/Episcopalian but saw religion and Christianity in a more Unitarian type philosophy and most probably didn't believe in the divinity of Christ.
To the corruptions of Christianity I am indeed, opposed; but not to the genuine precepts of Jesus himself. I am a Christian, in the only sense in which he wished any one to be; sincerely attached to his doctrines, in preference to all others; ascribing to himself every human excellence; and believing he never claimed any other.
Deists, especially ones in the 17th and 18th century believed worshiping God was unnecessary. However, Jefferson regularly attended worship services all throughout his life, and never actually claimed to be a Deist.

“When federal courts start changing our Constitution by defining words that are not even there, like marriage, they’re going to do the same thing with family in the future,” Moore argued. “When a word is not in the Constitution, clearly, the powers of the Supreme Court do not allow them to re-define words and seize power. The power is not delegated to the United States by the Constitution nor prohibited by it to the states or reserved to the states respectively or to the people.”

“This power over marriage, which came from God under our organic law, is not to be redefined by the United States Supreme Court or any federal court,” he concluded.

Jesus... :ohno:
Nine months after a Madison County Justice Court judge was accused of striking and yelling a racial slur at a mentally challenged young man, a grand jury served an indictment for simple assault on a vulnerable adult.

Justice Court Judge Bill Weisenberger turned himself in to the Madison County sheriff Thursday, according to a spokeswoman with the Attorney General's office. He was released on $10,000 bond.

According to witnesses, Weisenberger struck 20-year-old Eric Rivers, an African American, and yelled "Run, n-----, run" at the Canton Flea Market on May 8 of last year.

If convicted, the charge of simple assault against a vulnerable adult carries a fine of up to $1,000 or up to 5 years imprisonment, or both. The charge against him is a felony.
