Im glad we didnt expend blood and treasure getting him back, but putting a bunch of murder monkeys back into circulation wasnt a very good option, either.

Im curious to see how the WH will avoid/bury/spin this given the way they feted the guys parents on his release.

I didnt say we didnt.

But the way we didnt leave this one behind left a lot to be desired.

This guy need to be put in from of a court martial. He will have a chance to defend himself and those that believe he deserted can make their case. From what has been released I personally hope he ends up about a 100 miles down I-70 from my last duty station of Ft Riley Kansas. :coffee:

Tough spot for the Army. AWOL or deserter?

Shocker! He's going to trial for desertion. Now does the Army have the balls to execute Obama's poster boy for Honor?

Didn't some legitimate marines die trying to get this dude back...
Just for that they need to hang him

If it was 1942 that rescue mission would have been a search and destroy mission

Summary execution is a great disciplinary tool

I'm still trying to figure out why we gave up 5 top Taliban commanders for this guy....shoulda let him rot in whatever shithole he was in in AFghanistan--and KEPT the Taliban securely locked away in Gitmo.

The Taliban dudes were drugged then chipped (like pet dogs) on arrival years ago...
Giving them back led to a few easy drone strikes 72 hours later

I bet that when we do trade any of these "top Commanders", assuming any are left since we kill the number two guy on a weekly basis, nobody in their power structure comes anywhere near them.

Nah, Washington wouldn't have bothered with something so insignificant. That's why I said "summary" execution... pretty much a captain or above could try you on the spot and shoot you. Nobody above that pay grade needs to take time out of their important duties to send this guy off.

He wouldn't have been there under George. Back then we were opposed to foreign entanglements and standing armies.

And it only took four presidents for that to go completely out the window.
