U.S. officials say 6,000 ISIS fighters killed in battles

Post by VictorG »

I wonder if we'll ever know how many civilians were/are getting killed by ISIS?

I'm still amazed that a takeover that took the US war machine years to sort of conquer has watched that progress undone by some rag tag terrorists in a matter of months. I guess it's the "hearts and minds" approach vs. "fear and domination" approach.

The Iraq Government and military was very corrupt under the previous administration. The new Administration (since April) has uncovered 50,000 names of soldiers on the payroll that didn't exist. 50 Generals and other high ranking Military have been relieved of duty and can't leave the country awaiting trial.

Basically what happened is that a lot of the military just laid down their arms, took off their uniforms and left the scene when ISIS first showed up (under orders from their commanders). There is a big offensive starting now or at least very soon to drive ISIS out of Iraq or at least the major cities. We should be hearing a "ton" about Iraq here in the near future.

Does anybody admit Saddam wasn't so bad now...
Do we still claim to have "saved Iraq" from the evil dictator..?

No doubt Saddam was setup but wait until you see what is about to happen the rest of this year....

Additionally, my wife works with someone who recently came from Iraq and they said that up until ISIS, things were getting much, much better.

So now the Iraq that existed for a couple of decades under Saddam ( you remember the one Clinton bombed for WMDs) is now Bush's Iraq?

Saddam is Reagan's boy; brought him in as a counterweight to Iran.

What a difference a few years makes!

Only a little over a decade ago the left's favorite foreign policy mantra (other than death to Israel) was that the biggest problem in places like the MIddle East is that we prop up evil dictators.

Seems like both Bush (Iraq) AND Obama (Libya) learned the hard way that sometimes the enemy of my enemy really IS my friend!
