When Neil came back down to earth the press were all abuzz about that most quotable and famous phrase, but he silenced the reporters by suggesting he was misquoted. "What I actually said was "that's one small step for man, one giant leap for Manny Stein!"

When pressed to explain, Armstrong spoke of his childhood...

You see, while growing up as a boy in Ohio, our family used to live next door to Mr. and Mrs. Manny Stein and they used to pay me to trim the hedges for them.

One day, while I was trimming the hedges underneath the Stein's bedroom window I heard some odd noises then suddenly Mrs. Stein call out "the day you put the thing in my mouth is the day the Armstrong kid walks on the moon!"
