More reason to build the keystone pipeline.

I am bright enough to know the keystone pipeline is a Lexus compared to the Yugo that broke down around Glendive.

Keystone - three times as big, the spills that happen from it (and there will be spills, many of them) will be huge compared to this.
But alphie - feel free to drink directly from the river right below the splill

Re: Montana pipeline spill spurs drinking water advisory
There would be ZERO spills from the Keystone pipeline, its called technology.
And I would have no problem drinking the water in the Yellowstone it probably tastes better than it did before and we all know the earth will clean it up on its own. Its not that big of a deal its only 50,000 gallons. One grain of sand on all the worlds beaches.

I gotta admit I'm not overly knowledgeable on the Keystone pros and cons but I don't get why we (Merica) want to put something in place to move another countries oil through our country (us taking the risk of this sort of shit happening) for the benefit of other countries not named USA?ALPHAGRIZ1 wrote:I am bright enough to know the keystone pipeline is a Lexus compared to the Yugo that broke down around Glendive.

Crude oil in the YELLOWSTONE RIVER, cool. Almost has as much allure as tar sands in the Ogallala Aquifer.

Bingo! Just because it has become nothing more than a political football. You must be for it if a Republican marching lock-step, and also you must oppose if you align with Democrats. Nothing else really matters.Ursus A. This pipeline would still be used if the XL were built. Keep on making irrelevant points.ALPHAGRIZ1 wrote:I am bright enough to know the keystone pipeline is a Lexus compared to the Yugo that broke down around Glendive.

Re: Montana pipeline spill spurs drinking water advisory
We already pump oodles of Canadian oil through the Keystone pipeline now. The XL is just an extension designed to pick up the oil from the Williston area in the Bakken reserves (US oil). It is 10X safer, cheaper, environmentally friendly, etc. to pipe the oil from North Dakota than to load and ship it on trains and trucks.Ursus A. Look at it this way, every drop we bring in from Canada or drill on our own is one less drop we have to get from Venezuela or Saudi Arabia or any fill in the blank Arab country.

Huffpo, CNN, ABC, AP, NYT, etc. report the spill for political theater. Everyone else ignores.
BTW, early reports indicated the earth around the leak had been disturbed...I.e., the leak resulted from sabotage.
How convenient, as the Keystone decision comes to a head.

800# gorilla in the room here is price of oil kids.
North Dakota has already started shutting down, Halliburton announcing layoffs, projects are being put off.
Economics are killing this pipeline, but having it be nothing more than a political tiff, well we're still good to go with that.

Re: Montana pipeline spill spurs drinking water advisory
Will Keystone still be built with $40 oil? If built will it be used?
If built but not used can it be re-purposed to move illegal immigrants from Mexico directly to Canada?

Its incredibly relevant if you are smart enough to know whats going on. I know you are not that guy so I will explain some of it to you.Grizalltheway wrote:This pipeline would still be used if the XL were built. You dont want the XL pipeline built because your political party says they want to stagnate the economy. This pipeline will be engineered and built with the best equipment and technology.
The shitty pipeline in Glendive that you dont care that was built (because its not a political football) is a cheap version that is slapped together crooked and with the cheapest Chinese materials. It will fail again and again but hey where were you environmental douchebags then when a real POS was being built?
Maybe you should start making relevant points, you cant be wrong all the time. Thats no way to live.

For the past 55 years, the U.S. has suffered under end-of-nose shortsighted planning.
When a project is needed, Obstructionists complain the impact won't be felt for months or years. When long range planners propose long term solutions, the Grasshoppers mock and belittle the solutions...
...in this case, driven by a short term market fluctuation created by the Saudis who would be harmed by the construction of the Keystone project.
Coming from King NIMBY Narcissist Wedgie, this Grasshopper philosophy is laughable.

Thanks Baldy good information in there but we don't get our oil from Canada for the most part do we? This won't change that will it? This will still be used for Canada to send the vast majority elsewhere (China) right?Baldy wrote:We already pump oodles of Canadian oil through the Keystone pipeline now. Re: Montana pipeline spill spurs drinking water advisory
Oil to be extracted in our refineries from the tar, oil goes out on the word market, when finished the pipeline employs about 40 people full time, plus the refining and the pollution that goes with it. Tar sand is filthy stuff, way worse than crude. Canada gets to transport their nasty shit through our country and earns all the coin.Ursus A.
