It’s a fact that Wal-Mart earned $27 billion in profit last year. They could afford to pay their bottom million workers $10,000 more a year, raise all of those people out of poverty, save tax payers billions of dollars, and still earn $17 billion in profit, right.

No, what's TRULY nuts is that he bases his entire premise on a sadly misguided notion that if only Walmart would pay their workers more, somehow taxpayers would be better off. While I'm all for paying Walmart workers more, tying that to some mythical tax reduction is fucking comical. If that TRULY were the case, then we should require EVERYONE to make at least $40,000/year and eliminate welfare and food stamps altogether. Problem is this: Our benevolent government won't actually SAVE that money, they'll just spend it somewhere else.
