I wouldn't expect Drass to stay for very long if he was hired, but it would make it easier to step up to other D1 jobs actually having some form of D1 experience. (Even at lowly DSU)

Job Description

Delaware State University is accepting applications for a full-time Head Football Coach. The Head Football Coach is responsible for administering all facets of the DSU football program and its members. The duties and responsibilities include, but not limited to; recruiting, training, and game performance, academic success, campus and community involvement and all other duties as assigned. Further, the Head Coach is expected to be a campus leader and outstanding University representative. The skills, conduct, integrity and commitment of the Head Coach are to set a high bar for the entire Athletic Department, and represent the finest in the vision and performance of Delaware State University. In the performance of his duties, the Head Coach shall report directly to the Director of Athletics and shall conduct himself at all time in a manner consistent with his position.

Essential Functions:

1. Administer all facets of the football program
2. On- the-field coaching during practice and competition
3. Supervision and management of Assistant C0aches and staff of the football program
4. Administration of operating budget
5. Formulating and implementation of pre-and post-season conditioning programs
6. Monitor the academic program and the academic progress of the student athlete
7. Develop rules/regulations regarding the conduct of staff and student athletes
8. Demonstrate ability to recruit quality student athletes, develop, retain and graduate student athletes
9. Represent the University during fundraising and other civic events
10. Participation of team and staff during community service programs
11. Participate in and conduct camps and clinics
12. Knowledge and compliance with all NCAA, MEAC Conference, and Institutional rules and regulations

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Candidates for this job must possess these skills and abilities and demonstrate that they can perform the essential functions of the job.

1. Strong administrative, organizational, and motivational skills
2. Application and knowledge of NCAA, MEAC and University rules and regulations
3. Ability to communicate effectively
4. Works collaboratively with internal/external units of the University
5. Ability to effectively manage football coaches/staff
6. Experience in budget management, purchasing of equipment, team travel, and public relations
7. Oversight of hiring, supervision and development of staff
8. Commitment to meeting all standards for academic progress and retention of the NCAA and the University
9. Ability to raise funds and promote the football program regionally and nationally

Qualification Standards

1. A Bachelor of Science degree required, master’s preferred with a minimum of 5 years of progressive and successful coaching experience preferably at the Division I level.
2. A demonstrated ability to work under pressure and proven knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.

Performance Standards:
The criteria for evaluation in this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

1. Demonstrate knowledge of the DSU Fundamentals
2. Instruct athletes in individual and team fundamentals that are necessary for individual and team success
3. Meet the athletic objectives of Delaware State University
4. Develop a winning program
5. Meet on an individual and team basis the measures for academic progress, retention of student athletes, and progress towards timely achievement of a baccalaureate degree
