Cuban cigars becoming available was my first thought. It's about time.

We have a 60-something Cuban woman in our office who escaped the regime change as a child. She's literally crying and cursing Obama out right now. My boss just asked her to take the day off. :?

I think this is overdue, but it's clear older Cuban-Americans don't feel the same way. Things change...such is the way of the world.

Older Cubans are against it but their children are for it.

Since this is a football board, how long before the Cigar Bowl is re-instated? :thumb: :thumb:

This is another payback to big business by the pres. Lots of money to be made there - cheap labor for factories, resorts/tourism, selling consumer goods to Cubans, etc.

Personally I don't give a shit - open it up.

Clearly this is a change that is long overdue. Certainly understand the sentiments of older Cuban-Americans who are likely gnashing their teeth about this, and their feelings are genuine, but this policy simply isn't needed anymore. Good to see the opening up. Hopefully we don't ever need to implement it again.

I have a buddy serving at our mission in Havana. Almost went there myself.

But Im not a fan of cuban cigars. My top ten list gets all the way to #6 before a Cuban shows up on it. The embargo created a facade of quality in the Cuban cigar industry.

And baseball players. Sure, Abreu and Puig and a few others stand out, but plenty more have never made a beep after defecting and getting some money.

Cuban cigars aren't what they used to be nowadays. DR and Nicaragua is where it's at now.
And the best cigar rollers are from the DR (at least they are on our farm )

I had one from there last NYE. I'm not a connoisseur, but it tasted pretty good after a bunch of beer and whiskey. Also sodomy.

My best friend in college married a girl whose father retired from the NYFD and sank his pension and life savings into a Cigar factory/tobacco farm in Nicaragua. He gave all of us in the wedding party a box of cigars. They were pretty good. I didn't throw up so...that's what I really base it all on.
