Well, depends on when you define "Boomers". We did have the Korean War from 1950-53, the Vietnam War from the early 1960's to 1975 or so, and the Cold War from 1945 to 1990 or so. And during that time we had recessions in 1953-54, 1957-58, 1960-61, 1969-70, 1973-75. Surely a Boomer or two graduated college and entered the work force somewhere in that timeframe.Ibanez wrote:Did Boomers graduate college/enter the workforce during 2 wars and a recession?CAA Flagship wrote: Not to the percentage extent of this group. Boomers, for example, didn't work in fast food for 10+ years and bitch about minimum wage. They learned a trade and hid behind their Union.

Pssst.

Boomers are post WW2 children. I don't think many (if any) attended college during the Korean War. And was the recession like the most current?GannonFan wrote:Well, depends on when you define "Boomers". Take your pick. Some recessions had higher peak unemployments, some recessions had about the same duration, some recessions happened much sooner following earlier recessions. I don't think there are any "good" recessions.Ibanez wrote:Boomers are post WW2 children. I don't think many (if any) attended college during the Korean War. Back to theme of thread. Obama is no threat to any standup comic, living or dead. Some degree of self-awareness is the mark of a good humorist, and Obummer has none.

It's also the mark of a good human being. Are there any politicians who excell in this department...or comedy?Ivytalk wrote:Back to theme of thread. Obama is no threat to any standup comic, living or dead. Some degree of self-awareness is the mark of a good humorist, and Obummer has none.

Only one recession was comparable to our most recent one. And it affected the generation just entering the workforce similarly (and, actually peaked slightly higher in 80s).GannonFan wrote: Well, depends on when you define "Boomers".
