It would be nice to see these weighted in some fashion. Closing Gitmo probably isn't on the same scale as getting everyone broadband access for instance.
Re: Obama's Campaign Promise Scorecard
Promise Broken. To reduce bills rushed through Congress and to the president before the public has the opportunity to review them, Obama "will not sign any non-emergency bill without giving the American public an opportunity to review and comment on the White House website for five days."

You are correct. We typically look at the big ideas. In this case it was transparency and post partisanship and post -racial America. On those, he has failed miserably.
Haven't read the list but there were certainly lots he kept. Healthcare, like it or not. Getting out of Iraq, whether you think he did it right or not.
The interesting thing about Obama that most people don't recognize, is that he accomplished some big things. You can argue that the big things weren't good, but you can't argue that they weren't big.

I think it's more accurate to say that he fucked up a lot of things. To be kind, one might say simply that he "did" a lot of things.

Uh, no. Obomba did not get us out of Iraq...no matter how many times people say it.OL FU wrote:

Obama was forced out of Iraq due to the withdrawal terms set according to the treaty Bush set.
However, the fact is that Obama actually tried to keep us in Iraq longer, despite his promise to the American people, but Iraq did not agree to the terms that Obomba tried to change.
So no...Obomba did not get us out of Iraq. He simply carried out the treaty that Bush signed.
Now, the funny part is that Obomba is certainly getting us back into Iraq. We've got boots on the ground...special forces...but we're keeping a low profile.
And, we certainly are supplying arms to the rebel factions in Syria, despite earlier denials by Obomba. Habitual liar.
CIA supplied anti-tank missiles were just captured by the bad guys. Another amazingly stupid decision by this administration.
"WASHINGTON — CIA operatives and U.S. special operations troops have been secretly training Syrian rebels with anti-tank and antiaircraft weapons since late last year, months before President Obama approved plans to begin directly arming them, according to U.S. officials and rebel commanders."

Re: Obama's Campaign Promise Scorecard
And that's probably where Obama has failed most of all - his leadership. He was supposed to be transcendant, a post-partisan leader. Heck, that's why he got the Nobel prize before he did anything, because of the promise. Granted, the expectations and promise were certainly too high. However, he never came close to fulfilling that promise. Instead, he was just another politician, and at times, and I argue relative to the Democratic power brokers in Congress who pushed his Presidency where they wanted it to go and not necessarily him, just not a very effective politician.OL FU wrote:CitadelGrad wrote:

This. The atmosphere that surrounded him was exciting and he banked on that. He said all the right things but when he get in the WH, he realized that he couldn't do it. Transparency? HA! Could you imagine the nightly news if we knew everything?! It'd be ridiculous. He's a failed leader and administrator.GannonFan wrote:And that's probably where Obama has failed most of all - his leadership. He was supposed to be transcendant, a post-partisan leader.
