Demographics of Mid Term Dem and GOP voters

Post by JohnStOnge »

Exit polling results up at http://www.cnn.com/election/2014/result ... exit-polls" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; .

Describing the House elections since that represents a full national vote. One thing that's minor in the mathematics but interesting is that, this time, Asian Americans were about split among voting Republican and voting Democrat. A statistical tie.

Normally they vote overwhelmingly Democrat. In the 2010 mid terms, for instance, they voted majority Democrat in the House elections by 58% to 40%.

I've wondered why they tend to vote Democrat since Democrats are definitely hostile to their interests. They tend to do well financially so they've got a taxation target on them plus they tend to compete well and so are hampered by "affirmative action" policies. For instance they lose out on college admissions due to liberal/progressive efforts to increase numbers of "under represented minorities" in student populations.

Jews continue to amaze me. The Democratic Party screws them all the time as well and they too are hampered by liberal/progressive approaches. Same thing as Asians. They tend to do well financially and tend to compete well. The Democratic Party is definitely not their friend as a result. Plus the Democratic Party tends to be relatively hostile to Israel. Yet they consistently vote overwhelmingly for Democrats. If they didn't tend to be so smart you'd have to say they're idiots. Or maybe they're masochists. Anyway, as a group, they consistently vote in a manner contrary to their own interests.

Maybe they just aren't stupid enough to think they hit a triple when they were born on third base? :coffee:

And still people say the GOP has a women and young people problem when they really only have a minority problem.

I'm not surprised Asians are turning on the donks.

That is very correct. Note that in this election the majority of White women voted Republican. Maybe not by as large a margin as White men did but still by a substantial estimated margin of 56% to 42%. Also Whites in every one of the defined age groups voted Republican. Yes the Republican edge grew as age went up but even in the youngest demographic Whites voted Republican by 54% to 43%.

The spin about the Republicans being the Party of "Old White Men" is just that: Spin. It's Whites in general. Young Whites. Old Whites. Male Whites. Female Whites. Whites without college degrees. Whites with college degrees.

And, on the other side, the Democrats are the Party that relies on overwhelming support among minorities to be competitive; which is why you have to be an idiot to be White and vote in a way that puts the Democrats in a position of national power. Maybe it might make sense at times to vote for them in elections for local or State offices. Obviously, if you're voting in someplace like New Hampshire where 94.2 percent of the population is White and only 1.5% is Black a Democratic candidate for State office isn't going to have to pander to the Black vote. But if you're talking national power where you know Democrats have to win among Blacks by somewhere around 90% to 10% in order to be competitive you're going to have a situation where a party needs to pander to 13% of the population in order to be competitive. You're screwing yourself if you're White and you vote in a way that improves the Democratic Party's relative power level on the national level.

I'd have to research Jews but Asians did not start off on third base in this country. Like the Vietnamese coming over after the fall of South Vietnam. Those people came over here from a very disadvantaged background and at a linguistic disadvantage. But Vietnamese students were soon nevertheless OVER represented among the best qualified candidates for admission to prestigious universities.

As a general matter Asians are successful in the United States because they are smart and they work hard. And the Democratic Party seeks to penalize them for being successful just as it seeks to penalize anybody for being successful.
