This is as close as it gets:
Precincts Reporting: 95.54%
Ed Gillespie 985,447 48.74%
Mark Warner 985,023 48.71%
A little over 400 votes of difference!

Gardner projected to win Colorado so now Republicans only need to steal 1 more from the Democrats (assuming Roberts can hang on in Kansas and Georgia stays Republican) to get the magic 51.
Re: How are you voting - 2014 Midterms
Polls closed at 9:00
Iowa declared it's governors race over at 9:01 with Republican Brandsted being elected for a record 6th term.
Is that a record?
Republican Joni Earnst was declared a winner in the senate vote just minutes later. She steals a spot from long time congressmen Bruce Braley. She is the first female congressmen from the state of Iowa.
Turns out Bruce Braley being a douche bag came back to bite him in the ass

In the end, I don't think it really matters. Obama hasn't been able to do anything because the Senate and House never agreed on anything, and now Congress won't be able to get anything done because Obama can veto anything and Congress won't have the votes to override it.tribe_pride wrote:Gardner projected to win Colorado so now Republicans only need to steal 1 more from the Democrats (assuming Roberts can hang on in Kansas) to get the magic 51.
Ultimately, it's exactly as framers envisioned it: no one has too much power.

You are exactly correct and while it may be for the best, it's exactly why I could never work in anything involving legislation - nobody compromises and nothing gets done.∞∞∞ wrote:In the end, I don't think it really matters. From a local news outlet
During his next term which begins in January, he will become the longest-serving governor all time, surpassing New York Gov. George Clinton — whose tenure included about 10 years as a colonial governor before the U.S. Constitution was ratified.
According to the New York State Library, George Clinton served from July 30, 1777, to June 30, 1795, and from July 1, 1801, to June 30, 1804.
Clinton served 20 years 10 months and 29 days for a total of 7,639 days in office, according to Eric Ostermeier, a research associate at the University of Minnesota’s Humphrey School of Public Affairs.
At the end of his current term, Branstad will have served 7,303 days or 19 years, 11 months and 29 days. Branstad will overtake Clinton on Dec. 14, 2015, his 7,640th day in office, according to Ostermeier.

If it's that close at this point the Democrat will win because all the people who aren't really Virginians that live in Fairfax County will put the Democrat over the top.∞∞∞ wrote:This is as close as it gets:

Now propose a law that will increase the risk of fraud in elections. Again, the outcome is very predictable. The Democrats will favor it and the Republicans will oppose it.

CNN showing Rs at 50 senate seats. Have not announced Iowa seat yet. VA still really close, VT close but probably Dem holds on there. R has a decent lead in NC.
Re: How are you voting - 2014 Midterms
KCRG in Cedar Rapids hasn't called it yet but Earnst has gone from down 30k votes (basically only the major/liberty precincts reporting) to now being up 20-25K with about 50% reporting and pretty much only red precincts left.HI54UNI wrote:Local TV in Iowa is calling it for Joni. Re: How are you voting - 2014 Midterms
Iowa is about to be called. The reason it wasn't is the first places to report were city/liberal strong holds and while Braley built a lead it was small. Once the smaller/rural areas started to report that gap close QUICK and became a decent lead for Joni.SDHornet wrote:CNN showing Rs at 50 senate seats. Have not announced Iowa seat yet.
