Big Sky Power Rankings 10-6

Just when things were becoming clearer, things happen to two certain quarterbacks to create some doubt. What ends up happening remains to be seen but for now these ranking reflect what has happened. Here are this week's power rankings (last week in parenthesis). All are my opinion only and all open for discussion. Have at it.

1. Eastern Washington (1)---The Eagles got almost all they could handle from a game Idaho State team, finally getting the win at home last weekend. Now minus their star quarterback, they head out on the road to play reeling Southern Utah.

2. Montana State (2)---The Bobcats also entered a slugfest at Sacramento State last weekend, scoring points as fast as they were giving them up. After securing a win, they returned home to recover, only to have to return to the Causeway and play UC-Davis this weekend.

3. Montana (3)---The Grizzlies had things relatively in hand last weekend at North Dakota, only to almost lose it at the end. Saving embarassment by kicking the winning field goal, they get a much needed bye this weekend to recover.

4. Cal Poly (6)---The Mustangs entertained Southern Utah and emerged with a hard-fought win last weekend, ending the Thunderbirds playoff hopes. Trying to show consistency, they head out on the road this weekend at Weber State.

5. Idaho State (7)---Face it, this is not the Bengals of old. Giving Eastern Washington all they could handle on the road before falling at the end was remarkable. This weekend, they venture out of conference and welcome DII Simon Fraser.

6. Northern Arizona (4)---Dominating Northern Colorado on the road in all categories, except for the one that counts, the Lumberjacks could not get past two costly interceptions. This weekend, they get a bye to try to recapture the early magic.

7. Sacramento State (8)---The Hornets did all they could to keep up a fast pace with Montana State at home, only to run out of gas at the end. Desperate to get something started in conference play, they hit the road, going to Northern Colorado this weekend.

8. Southern Utah (5)---Good things were hoped for at Southern Utah this year, but the playoff door was slammed shut on them this weekend at Cal Poly. Nothing left but pride, they bring in highly explosive Eastern Washington to their home town.

9. Portland State (12)---The Vikings brought in UC-Davis last weekend and dispatched them out of town with a strong win. Hoping to build on that momentum, they head clear across the conference this weekend and play North Dakota.

10. Northern Colorado (13)---Magic shined on the Bears last weekend in their home win against Northern Arizona, after getting dominated in all other statistical categories. They welcome reeling Sacramento State this weekend, hoping some magic continues.

11. North Dakota (11)---The No-Names woke up late in their game against Montana last weekend and almost stole a shocking win. Hoping to make more noise in the conference, they entertain Portland State this weekend.

12. UC-Davis (9)---The Aggies stayed close to Portland State on the road last weekend but could never get ahead in the game. Eager for some good feelings, they bring in conference power Montana State to their cozy confines.

13. Weber State (10)---Nothing more than the dumb luck of being the odd team with a bye last weekend, the Wildcats find themselves in the basement. Trying to climb out of there, they welcome Cal Poly this weekend.

On Egriz, the overwhelming opinion is that the Griz have NO O, need a new coach, AND the sky is falling. Im only restating what is on your OWN fanboard.

One and two should be reversed because VA is out, and so there is no way they will win another game. Also #3 should be #1 because there QB will never get hurt, and no way Prukop will stay healthy all year. Once he goes down, then #2 will be done for the season.

I know...Right? I have been saying this for YEARS. With those facilities, I don't know how anyone could compete.

Most people on eGriz aren't happy unless we go undefeated every year and beat everyone by a minimum of 40 points. They'd also be the best HC/OC in school history if only someone would give them a chance.

Still a work in progress, those teams outside the top 3 are so similar right now. No one below you really showed they belong above you, and your performance in a loss to Montana State (who's looking pretty tough right now), along with ISU's showing at Eastern Washington with Adams was enough to vault over Southern Utah. I looked at moving you above NAU as well, but I thought that was a bit of a stretch for now.

Yes, ISU's performance at what I think is the best team in the conference was also remarkable. Made Sac's loss to the Bengals not nearly as bad. But like I said, a work in progress.
