Sure. Whether something is abnormal or not is a separate issue from whether or not manifestation of the behavior should be legal or not. What I'm saying is that, just in terms of sexual orientation, having a sex drive directed at 2 year olds is no more abnormal in terms of deviation from direction consistent with the underlying basis for sexually motivated behavior than having a sex drive directed at members of your own sex is.

BTW, I think the linked article also shows what a joke the American Psychiatric Association is. See this paragraph:

Right. And "intense and recurrent sexual interest in prepubescent children" is not a disorder unless "if it causes a person 'marked distress or interpersonal difficulty' or if the person acts on his interests."

Please note that the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders is the basis upon which the "Received Wisdom" declaring that homosexuality is not a disorder is based.

That's actually not necessarily so. The point is that an animal of one sex is stimulated by a member of the opposite sex and wants to interact sexually. The sexual interaction almost inevitably leads to copulation. In fact it almost certainly will unless their is a conscious effort to avoid it because one happens to be a member of the one species intelligent enough to consciously realize that copulation leads to pregnancy.

It's not that animals think "I am going to have sex in order to reproduce." It's that animals are stimulated by the opposite sex so that the interact in a way that leads to reproduction. If you're a heterosexual guy and you're girlfriend is giving you head jobs chances are you want the mother lode at some point.
