I guess this, plus the dollar's ascendance, plus the boost in GNP means the economy is finally back with a clean bill of health.
Move on....nothing more to see here....back to business as usual.

Speaking of comedy, I find it comical that the GOP will bash the age of entitlement that we live in, that by the way, I definitely side with them on. But yet, they will criticize the administration about labor force participation stats.
Let's be completely honest here, if you're a long term unemployed person in today's economy & I'll define that as being out of work for 6 months, it's not the government that should be the main source of blame. the #1 source of a blame for those individuals should be a MIRROR.
Seriously, there are so many jobs out there right now, if you've been unemployed long-term the vast majority of those people have reasons why they're still out of work, or as the GOP will argue in this case, they gave up.
Is that hat we are now? A nation of quitters?

Yep, those are some mighty spiffy jobs out there. If being a waiter/waitress, retail clerk, hotel desk clerk, janitor, maid is something you aspire to and will get your mortgage paid and your kids through college.

Search a little further - there are plenty of good jobs out there. Being a hiring manager myself I can tell you that you're wading through a lot of muck nowadays to find good talent.

As long as the government provides an incentive to remain unemployed long-term, a large number of people will remain unemployed long-term. Cut off long-term unemployment benefits and vioila! People will go find something to put food on the table. Donks give more & higher disincentives to work, millions more drop or stay out of workforce, and presto, the govt's count of the unemployment rate drops.

No matter what the number is, it is always bad, or always good, depending on how you want to spin it.
It's become meaningless as a barometer of unemployment, but a great tool for politics.

Re: <6%
The problem with a simple percentage as a barometer is that it assumes that a job lost and regained are exactly the same. For instance, a guy loses a job paying $60k and, after a year, is forced to take one paying $40k. The unemployment rate measures the quantity of the job but ignores the quality.
