At least they're questioning. Perhaps they'll be the ones who question military adventurism and the establishment when they come of age ? Or should we wait for those open minded and anti-colonial conservative youth to lead the way?
You act as though America awoke from a nightmare to find it had inadvertently become a militaristic state.

Wow!

Our militarism developed from a need. It should be plain as the nose on your face that demilitarization is NOT a reasonable policy to maintain sovereign independence. That Obama has obliterated our defense capabilities has been repeatedly demonstrated just in the past six months.

All those Tomahawks fired in the past 48hrs...

....have been cut from the Defense budget. Unless the Defense budget is restored, the U.S. will only have the means to defend one theater by 2016!

Think that's funny?

Sleep on the thought America came to an end on your watch due to your inept naivete.

Somehow I doubt we'll see that even though it really is true.

Really liked this quote from one of the conservatives leading the charge to change school text books.
While the narrative may be “historically true,” he argues, “progressives are going to be the heroes in this narrative.”

Education has always been known as a bastion for conservatism. Ask any teacher/professor who they voted for in the last 4 elections. :coffee:

You shouldn't. That view of Lincoln SHOULD be discussed in schools. More importantly, and similar to the revolution, dissent against oppressive government and/or federal over-reach is at the core of our founding and framework.

A point that is clearly understood by these teenagers, and clearly missed by the "conservative" school board members and many of the conks who have posted on this thread. :coffee:

I think I'd prefer teaching to be open-minded, versus resistant to change and new ideas.

Teach the kids the freakin' ugly truth on all things, not simply revisionist history with a left or right slant. I never really thought about it growing up, but who is really choosing curricula and course materials? A liberal school board? A conservative one? One that's balanced? Most of the teachers I know are some of the most liberal people I know, and I'm sure they could inject their own interpretation of history to a classroom despite the course materials.

It would be nice to have people in these positions that could be objective and teach history as it happened without adding in personal opinion and bias, but we all possess biases. I might bloviate on a message board about my opinions from time to time, but I'm not using my biases to educate a classroom full of kids. :twocents:

Questioning? :?

You can't be serious.

Students carrying signs that say, "We Support Our Teachers!", and ""Stand up for Students, Stand up for teachers!" is, in your view, "questioning?" :suspicious: C'mon, kalm. :ohno:

Unfortunately, these students sound as if they are parrots instead of independent thinkers.

Our public education system is not an education system...it is an assembly line for lemmings. It was built specifically to train workers...not to think independently. That is the truth. Apparently, nothing has changed.

And this is a brilliant quote:

"I don't think my education should be censored. We should be able to know what happened in our past," said Tori Leu, a 17-year-old student who protested at Ralston Valley High School in Arvada.

17 years old...and he doesn't realize that all textbooks are censured in some way. Amazing thinking. His thoughts should be focused on getting resources in addition to, and different from, the ones his school supplies, instead of letting his teachers cram him with their version of censored books.
These signatures have a 500 character limit?

What if I have more personalities than that?
