I doubt the CSU football organization got it's inspiration from an early 20th century play. Might have more to do with the two Charleston area teams than Grover's Corners.Libertine wrote:A bunch of big Thornton Wilder fans, are they?bucs90 wrote: Just saw the video, it was great. So whats the latest on the possible teal turf up at CCU? Is it happening?
If you guys do that...we're getting water colored turf at CSU. Think about that for a minute, and then you can call my joke lame.

Nothing new on that horrible idea of teal turf. God, I hope that doesn't happen. What a complete waste of money.
I don't get your joke. I'm guess some sort of pirate joke ?
Also, check your PMs.

I know, but "some" other fans in the Charleston area try to knock us and always refer to us "up in Ladson".Ibanez wrote:But you're in North Charleston, not Ladson.bucs90 wrote:

Ladson is on the OTHER side of the interstate.

I went to high school here and we'd call CSU and TTC the southern UCLA. University of Charleston-Ladson Area.

Are you sure? Think about it. There's no set (facilities), minimal props (equipment), the actors (players) mimic everything and the Stage Manager (coach) spends most of his time trying to convince the audience they're watching something worthwhile.Ibanez wrote:I doubt the CSU football organization got it's inspiration from an early 20th century play. Well we have the PERFECT mascot, a pirate. We kinda patched our "stadium" together from scraps and spare pieces.. Our players are disgruntled transfers and guys who got overlooked (most pirates were ex-navy and journey men with no home). We put on a front of morality and honor....but our students are among downtowns drunkest. And we cruise around fighting bigger ships (teams), sometimes losing bad, sometimes knocking of a flagship, but always up for a fight and coming back for more....even with our patchworked crappy "ship".And then returning to the dangerous, lawless confines we dwell in up in North Chuck.Libertine wrote:Are you sure? I don't know. I'd like to think they are, but since the school is so out of touch when it comes to apparel and misses so many opportunities when it comes to merchandising and capitalizing on the marketing machine that is college apparel and memorabilia, they probably don't. The only thing I know to do is call the bookstore.bucs90 wrote:Just saw the video, it was great. Re: Final: Charleston Southern 20, Citadel 18
You're right, for YEARS the school has missed the mark on that. When I was there from 1998-2001, a sports store at the nearby mall started selling a lot of CSU stuff and the school went up there and threatened a lawsuit if they didn't stop. They wanted all the money to come through the bookstore, and didn't realize "Hey idiots, most alumni no longer come to your bookstore, but we go to the malls".BJuice wrote:I don't know. But that's changing. Palmetto Moon at Northwoods now carries CSU stuff. And....Coach Chadwell approves!
