Not a Bill Maher fan but about Islam he nailed it

Post by JohnStOnge »

You have to give him credit for being honest about what he thinks and consistent in his world view. And I DO think he's spot about Islam as well as about people saying it's like other religions.

But if I told the truth and nothing but the truth

I saw this last week. He does have a good point about Islam. I still don't like him.

Of course Maher's correct about the connective tissue of Muslims.

What's notable was that Charlie Rose was not interviewing Maher as much as he was CORRECTING Maher for not preaching the gutless fuck cowardice liberal propaganda.

Blind adherence to the tenets of political correctness is why Charlie Rose appears to be stupid. Dogma is the enemy of rationality. At least on the issue of religion, and Islam in particular, Maher is not dogmatic.

I wonder if there really is any difference between stupidity and willful ignorance. If there isn't, then Rose is an idiot.

Radical muslims are more violent than most radicals from other religions but there are historical, political, and even economic reasons for that. To chalk it all up to Islam somehow being inferior to christianity is kind of pointless.

I salute you, kalm. Your excellent work on behalf of Allah and the Prophet Muhammed (PBUH) is not going unnoticed in The Caliphate. Deflecting the infidels from our brutal, intolerant and violently aggressive religion with sociology undergrad bullshit is a brilliant tactic. If you keep up this excellent work on behalf of the one true religion, I think I can safely promise you seventy-two virgins upon the successful completion of your impending martyrdom operation.

Steal their land, rape their horses, ride off on their women, drink mead, and write a saga about it. (Odin brought poetry to the world).

Do the "reasons" matter..?
Everybody's got "reasons" for all kinds of behavior
we had a "reason" to drop the bomb on Japan
Which the Japanese - to this day - cannot wrap their heads around or make sense of

But we had our reasons...

Islam needs no defense of its reasons any more than North Korea needs to defend its reasons for its behavior

no one religion is inferior to another and that is not the premise here

Islam is inherently more violent than all of the other world religion. that is Maher's point in a nutshell and it really isnt debatable

This. It is not about superiority of religions, but rather about behavior. All religions have some violent teachings and adherents, but none can compare with Islam in scope and magnitude.

What is interesting here to me is the mantra of peaceful, moderate Muslims that is repeated over and over.

By not acting to reign in the violent Muslims, the peaceful, moderate Muslims are making themselves irrelevant, just as moderate, peaceful Germans did in Nazi Germany, moderate, peaceful Cambodians did during Pol Pot's atrocities, just as moderate, peaceful Russians did under Stalin, etc.

As Edmund Burke said, "All that it takes for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing". :twocents:

That's kind of how the other religions manage...that is unless Islam really is inherently violent.

You of course do realize we've helped some of the violent muslims along quite nicely over the years. Right?

We have supported regimes and men that have triumphed over innocents, evilly. Would Burke rise up from his comfy Cotswolds davenport and cry "balderdash" (or whatever term was used at the time) about this?

I think you're confused
What I'm talking about is that Islam is a backwards violent religion
Trapped in a time warp and dropped into the 21 century world

Do I think we should kill them - no
Do I think we should be at war with Islam - no
Do I care either way - no

Will I pretend that Islam is a religion of peace - no
Will I defend Islam - no
