What a **** douchebag. :ohno:

You know absolutely nothing about god.
I admit, I know nothing about your God. I only explained God as I understand God.

I'm pretty sure WBC, ISIL and Justin Bieber don't make God happy.

Besides, like SCBH said, we're putting a human emotion on a supernatural entity. It's a tad silly.

Some people consider this a religious topic, others a spiritual topic, or a way of life topic about doing the right thing.

I live my life and raise my girls as best as I can. If that pleases Him or not. That is what I do. All in his name.

You or your girls don't need your god. He is not worthy of your worship.

There is a difference between working for what you have or working hard to help others and simply teaching to people that "if you just believe harder, you will receive it from God". That is where they go wrong. You can't just start thinking harder about God's provisions and create them into existence. They teach idolatry, plain and simple. They don't teach about salvation. They don't teach about Christ.

With that said, I do believe they have small part right. God is happy when we are happy. As long as what we are doing to make ourselves happy brings Him glory. At the same time, God is happy when we are broken to the point where we have nowhere to turn but to Him.

To even think we can start to grapple with and understand God is beyond my comprehension. (I'm sure there is joke in there some where)

Claude "Gomer" Osteen pitched for the Dodgers and the old Washington Senators back in the 60s. :coffee:

I didn't waste too much time trying to psychoanalyze Victoria's deep thoughts. More of the Robert Schuller "Hour of Power" feelgood Christianity. Nobody will remember the Osteens in five years. :twocents:

I agree with you. I go to church every Sunday. But a lot goes into how you live your life. Away from church. And applying what Jesus did in his life not what a priest says. D1b rants about the child abuse in the church. I can't lie. It effects how I look at them. But most are truly called to what they do. People who are outspoken about god I stay away from. It's just uncomfortable being around them. We all have failures. No one is perfect. I certainly am not. But I try to forgive and forget. Having faith doesn't give you the answers. It gives you grace to live with the questions.

Honestly I kinda like that Osteen guy, he always makes me smile when he's doing his thing... I'm not sure Mrs. Osteen should be trailing off script too often but whatever, she means well and is basically harmless

And much to what Andy said:
Every person has to make their own way through this GOD thing - and those that are too loud about what they claim to know about god are mostly sad pathetic creatures begging for your attention...

Yes. This. It's a personal relationship between you and him. I don't talk about it unless asked. And my response is usually "I'm a practicing Catholic". And end it there. It's too uncomfortable to vocalize the relationship. I know where I stand and my failures. No one needs to know that. Whatever your denomination I don't care. It's all based on who didn't like someone else's rules or what ever. I don't care. I choose to go my route. I'm not going to say if one is better than another.

Lets be clear on what we (the arguers) are debating most frequently on this board regarding religion...
Almost never is it about "God" in a direct sense
Its about ridiculous claims about what God wants or what god does
as well as the absurd claims about what the Bible is and how it should be defined

That is the battlefield right there...

As far as personal faith and the ability to say "I don't know but this is what I believe" I think we can all let that stand without much fighting
