They'd finish 2nd in the Big Fluff. ;)
Nope - they lost to the Big Sky co-champs (Montana), and the 5th place team (NAU). Try again ;)

Not at all. I'm stating my opinion. :thumb: I was at the game. I wasn't worried about EWU winning. Yes, there was lots of groaning at the poor special teams play. The Eagles capitalized. Awesome. Good for them. I, personally, didn't think the Eagles had enough to win on the lines of scrimmage. That's all. The End. :ugeek:

First, you'll need to get the rest of FCS fandom to care about SUU before we begin to underestimate you. ;)

Well i respect your opinion and not really surprised since that is the majority of opinion on this site :D. And hey by not caring is just solidifys my case that we will be underestimated in 09.

Well..SUU has won 28 games so far this decade while losing 70. Can you blame us? :D Good luck this upcoming season. Sincerely.

Now back to Montana and App. Looking forward to the series if it truly happens. Although I hope the PTB at ASU have declared our intention to move up by then.

I am.

It's a moot point for another couple of years anyway. I am a fan of I-AA ( ) and the playoffs though so don't cast me out just yet. :D

I got lambasted over at the other site for saying the Eastern Washington game was no where near as close as the final score indicates. App was up 21-7 at the half and terrible special teams play allowed the Eagles to keep it close. :?
That's right. We forgot that special teams aren't part of the team, and their play doesn't count in the final score.
Yep...and us App fans keep forgetting that "almost" winning apparantly carries alot of weight in the Big Fluffy...

It does. I'm just saying, that from my seat in the stadium, I wasn't impressed with any other facet of the Eagles' game. I believe the ASU defense held the EWU offense well below their season average. Poor special teams play allowed the Eagles two or three scoring opportunities from inside the 10-yard line.

The Eagles weren't doing much else during the game without those breaks. :?

That's just my take. :ugeek:
And a correct take....as is AZ's...special teams is an important facet of the game. An our inattention to it almost cost us that game and did cost us the game at JMU this past season. So, yes, we almost allowed EWU to upset us by our mental lapses and yes, we never allowed EWU to ever lead in the game..even at the end when it matters the most...nothing to see here...move along....

Sort of like the CPSLO folks don't think kicking is part of the game.

When you win a total of 4 FCS games over the last 4 years, underestimation is understandable.
