I live near the coast where the only "hills" are the bridges. My 2008 Hybrid saves me money. On long trips, I can get 50+mpg with a 10 gallon tank. Btw, note that I'm not the one being superior about my car. I mentioned the car I drive b/c of the posts before me. Driving my 19mpg Mustang, 50+ miles a day was costing too much money. I had to fill up almost 3 times a week. Since I bought the hybrid, I fill up every 1.5 weeks (on average).

The thing with a hybrid is that you have to look at how much it costs you vs. a comparable model to start with then see if the improved gas mileage savings is going to be sufficient to cover the increases cost of the car over its lifetime. But I guess you may get some kind of tax benefit. Don't know.

I can't consider hybrids until they have pickup truck hybrids anyway. In 1998 I bought my first pickup truck and after experiencing that I will never be without a pickup truck again.

Proving there is hope for even the most oblivious among us. Kind of keeps the hope kindled by Cheney shooting a lawyer alive.

I am that hate-on-hybrids dick when the can't go up a damn hill or get out of the fast lane, which is most of them. Not all, but A LOT of hybrid owners love to act all superior about owning one. I've been driving my 45+ mpg cars for 10+ years now, before it was the cool thing to do. I am still driving my 2003 and it will last another 10+ years. And I could get a lot better than 45+ but I go down the freeway at 80-85 and drive it like I stole it.

Me and my PRIUS pass a heck of a lot more cars than pass me. Even going up a mountain pass! And I'm still getting about 47 mpg!

If they are worried about solar and wind energy generation killing birds they need do nothing more than eliminate bird hunting and the savings from no longer blowing our fine feathered friends (and some dogs and Politicians friends) into smithereens will off set the loss to power generation!

Like we base some of our water quality standards on coliform bacteria in the water. Did you know that a duck puts out something like 7 times the coliforms in a day that a human being does on average? And ducks don't worry about where they crap.
