Liberty Kids

Post by Baldy »

Kids growing up in the Obama Error might be the best thing for the Conks.

'Liberty Kids' shake up L.A. Republican Party, look to other states
LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Amir Zendehnam passionately supports marijuana legalization, same-sex marriage, abortion rights and the Republican Party.

He is not alone. The 26-year-old aspiring restaurateur and chairman of the party's West Los Angeles central committee, is one of a raft of ethnically diverse young libertarians who hold seats in L.A. County’s huge GOP apparatus, injecting youthful energy into its operations at a time when the state’s Republican Party is nearly moribund.

After winning control the executive board of the Los Angeles County Republican Party in December 2012, the “Liberty Kids,” as they call themselves, are seeing the fruits of their activism. This year one of their own is running as the Republican nominee for Congress from the San Gabriel Valley, with Zendehnam serving as policy adviser.

The Liberty Kids are challenging the party's social conservatives and are drawing the attention of Democrats, who see liberal youth as part of their base. And in what could be a harbinger for the GOP, they have begun campaigning in other states, aiming to increase their influence beyond California.

"I want you to look around the room," Zendehnam said at a meeting last week, "because this is what the face of the Republican Party is going to look like."
It's refreshing to see Millennials starting to pay attention to long forgotten issues such as the nullification of the 10th amendment, etc. :ugeek:

I think this a VERY good thing for the GOP and have been hoping to see it happen for quite some time. As long they are economically rational and remember...

THAT should be seen as a shocker. You would think that the "social media, celebrity Prez" would have fared much better than that.

Suprised that Mr. Pie Charts and Graphs would ignore that trend. :coffee:

Thats a surprisingly low number.

It is also encouraging that so many young naive minds got an early education in the dangers of voting for style over substance.

Totally agree. There should be an early dose of cynicism created in them.

Isn't a fiscally responsible Republican Party that doesn't pander to the religious right a party that damn near EVERYBODY could vote for..?

And when I say Religious right i mean
a) Abortion Rights
b) The war against Science (see Texas and many Southern Schools systems)
c) A new way to monetize common drugs (See Marijuana Legalization)

All things that pandering to the fringe loony Christian right has cost the Republican core

If I could be assured that I wasn't voting for a closet panderer of the ^ above
I'd vote Republican ALL DAY LONG

Weren't the boomers pretty liberal in their twenties? Now they are that backward old bigoted generation that needs to die so we can make progress according to Oprah Winfrey.

Certainly I would think someone who is not socially conservative in their young days will ever be socially conservative, but people do tend to get more economically conservative as they get older.

I know that I was pretty liberal as a young adult mostly because I was an idealist and thought the government could actually do a lot of good things. A couple of things happened as I got older. One, I noticed how much the government was taking out of my pay check and said WTF. Two, I took a closer look at government and realized that the bigger it got the less effective it was (kind of a law of diminishing returns on all of the tax dollars we send them). I did vote for Slick Willy twice but don't regret it because he was more of a fiscal conservative than Dubya.

It does not bode well for the Dems if Obama only has 60% support from young adults. That number will trend down as they mature.

It will probably be difficult for MAQA yahoos to overcome the Qult programming but they should give being rational & reasonable a try.

If the WIFs had a lick of sense they would be acting like the pro-life people they keep asserting themselves to be and start adopting these kids that are fleeing the US-caused drug violence in their countries of birth. They'd be increasing republican votes and for once not look like the planet's biggest hypocrites.

Well, I don't see the Conks as the ones trying to ban Big Gulps, trans fatty acids, plastic bags, table salt, E-Cigarette's, etc. It's not the Conks who are running in fear when a child forms his hand into the shape of a gun and points it at another kid playing cops and robbers, or suspends children from school for chewing a piece of toast into the shape of a gun.
