Agreed.

A shameful example of a sellout. One wrong doesn't make a right...especially if it happens to you.

Alfie, every time I get close to concluding that you're not really a dick, you say something like that. :ohno:

The guy was a talented press secretary who worked for Bill Roth before Reagan, and his misfortune in life was to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

He did succumb to that thing where he had something happen to him then came out of it feeling like he had to change the world in order to keep it from happening to somebody else. Or maybe it was his wife. One thing I always wondered about is if Brady was really completely cogent and vested in the Gun Control stuff or if it was his wife pulling the strings the whole time.

Women in particular are like that. They have someone close to them die or suffer serious harm and they feel like they have to make the death of or harm to their loved one have "meaning" by playing off the event to facilitate the establishment of new laws to make sure "no one else ever had to suffer this."

And the result is usually that liberty suffers.
Well, I believe that I must tell the truth
And say things as they really are
But if I told the truth and nothing but the truth
Could I ever be a star?

This.

Well said, JSO.

IT...he may have been a noble man prior to the shooting, but what he did afterward established his legacy.

My dad was Secret Service. He has always said James Brady was a good man and the AntiGun crusade is all on his wife.

100% spot on.

And did anyone actually think it wasn't Sarah the COONT calling all the shots?

And the ultimate irony? She admitted to making a straw purchase of a rifle for her son in Delaware of all places: http://www.nydailynews.com/archives/new ... e-1.477603

Be a man. Tell her no. Don't participate. Publicly speak against her.

If she loves him, she'll understand this was a mental health issue. She could have worked to improve mental health treatment rather than working against the Bill of Rights.

You don't have enough talent to be a dick. You'll never get past the whimpering hand-wringer level.

There was an article in the Sunday paper about how South Carolina, since last September, has stopped more than 150 people with mental illnesses from obtaining firearms (legally). How? All those that have been deemed mentally ill, committed, etc.. by courts have had their records sent to NCIS?. So when they go to buy a gun, the background check shows that Joe Blow is mentally ill and is denied a gun. It's a start, but it's a good start.

They have that in CA, but DOJ takes weeks/months to complete the check...despite charging fees to support the program, AND a mandatory waiting period. Once DOJ finds a disqualifier, THE LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCY CONTACTS THE BUYER AND CONFISCATES THE FIREARM. Yes, this has resulted in numerous shootings/standoffs. CA DOJ has been run by liberal *************s for the past two decades. I've often wondered if this program was designed to CREATE violent incidents a-la Fast and Furious.

No need to show ID or prove mental competence to vote so why do we have to for the purchase of a gun?

Absolutely serious.

Its amazing how the left can trample on everyone's rights, keep blacks poor, strangle the handicapped and control everyone they disagree with and nobody sees the irony.
