Not psychotic. Objective. Islam is a problem. It should be eliminated. And no, it's not a problem of religion in general. It's Islam. And that crap about it just being a "small minority of fanatics perverting a beautiful religion" is just that: Crap. The Religion itself drives what we are seeing. And it's not a perversion of the Religion either. Muhammed was a military leader who promoted exactly the kind of behavior we are seeing in stuff like the ISIS movement. They are correctly following his directions.

Clearly, the world would be better off if Islam were to be completely eliminated. I don't see how anybody can be intellectually honest and deny that.
I try to ignore Islamic discussions because of my background, but can you be honest with me here? Have you had ANY experience with ANY Muslim...ever? 99.9% are...and this may be shocking...normal.

I mean, you're basically calling for the genocide of most of my family and some very close friends...all whom live pretty average lives. Yet I have never heard them say the same thing you just did, in-person or online (again, probably because they're normal people). So yeah, they're the terrifying ones.
If this is true (I don't buy it) then why don't you police your own and take back your religion? Deep down inside you kind of like what's going on so you look the other way.

An intellectually honest person would admit this is true or change religions because you condone the seeking out and extermination of a race.

Since 9/11, the Muslim community has been key to counter-surveillance measures against terrorists, so while your question is asked a ton over the years, the answer still seems to be ignored. Hell, when my sister worked for the CIA, her main job was working with Muslim and Arab communities for that very task.

Second, I'm an atheist. I may have been born into it, but Islam certainly isn't "[my] own."

What we need to see is more vocal and visible leadership from the "moderate" Muslim majority that is said to exist. You certainly can't count on those idiots from CAIR to represent that viewpoint.

good thing you're a citizen of the West, then

lots of moderate Muslims in the greater Muslim world would be fine looking the other way while that 0.01 percent cracks your skull open with a rock for apostasy

That part of the world is fucked up, but I also argue that it's mostly cultural. I lived in Lebanon for two years, and I've visited Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Jordon, Egypt, Bahrain, Qatar, and pre-war Syria and Iraq. There are HUGE differences in the cultures of these nations, from how they treat the poor and women to their dealings with other religions to their relationship(s) with western culture. For example, the Christian-Lebanese that I dealt with were identical to the Muslim-Lebanese, but were completely different than the Syrians, Egyptians, and Turks I met. I'd also argue that an even bigger part of the problem is the lack of education in many of these nations (which is ultimately their fault).

Thats true to an extent- but I've also known Iraqi Christians and Muslims, Jordanian Christians and Muslims, and Coptics- and the Muslims, at least in my eyes, seemed somewhat more fundamentalist than the Christians. When you ran into the non-practitioners they were always Christians. Even in Jordan, which I consider to be very moderate- honor killings with no consequences for the killers (usually a father) make the local papers in a very matter of fact way.

Have you been to Indonesia? I'd like to think it provides a glimmer of hope that it's possible for a majority-Muslim country to not be completely fucked up and retarded.

Yes I have- they have a vibrant and functional Al Qaeda presence there, but so far they keep it in check. But they have morality laws in place to placate the whackos just as in other countries- so all it would take is some upset of the status quo there and they will have problems. I would place Jordan ahead of Indonesia in terms of moderation.

This is why I find it interesting dback is so quick to defend Islam. His hatred of Christianity has blinded him to what a world Caliphate would mean to him.
He is just reacting to wrong minded "Christians" judging him. But still.
