Rand Paul Gearing Up for a 2016 Run
In a front-page WSJ article today that should surprise absolutely nobody, Kentucky's junior Senator is said to be gearing up for a Presidential run in 2016.
1. He's hiring political staffers in Iowa, New Hampshire and Michigan.
2. This week, he's making his tenth visit to Iowa in the past two years.
3. He is said to have an e-mail list of a million supporters.
4. He's going to open a campaign HQ in Louisville.
Discuss. (Or not, as you please.)

There are so many things I really really like about Rand Paul, and so many unanswered questions. Well hell, I have at least another 12 months or so before I have to start doing my homework

I'll vote third party but if I had to pick between Paul and Hilary it would definitely be Paul. He might possibly be radical enough to buck the establishment.

Dr. Ben Carson, a retired neurosurgeon and conservative sensation, is taking a couple of major steps toward a 2016 presidential bid, forming a political action committee and selecting a campaign chairman for a potential White House run.
The 62-year-old Carson made the announcement Friday after two days of meetings in Florida, as reported first by The Washington Times.
Carson has selected Texas businessman Terry Giles as the chairman and approved the formation of the PAC, named One Nation.
“No doubt he’s one step closer to making a decision,” John Philip Sousa IV, chairman of the National Draft Ben Carson for President Committee, told FoxNews.com on Saturday. “And we all think his decision will be to run.”
Sousa said the super PAC, which is gathering signatures across the country to convince Carson to run, has already raised $8 million for the presidential campaign.

Between "One Nation" (creepy religious and jingoistic overtones) and John Philip Sousa IV this almost reads like an Onion piece.AZGrizFan wrote:http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2014/08 ... house-bid/

Re: Rand Paul Gearing Up for a 2016 Run
If I understand Paul's immigration position correctly -- and he's been kind of opaque on this issue -- he favors border security, but also some kind of enhanced work visa program. He's not in the Ted Cruz "Deport 'em now" camp, as far as I can tell.
Cruz's candidacy will never take off. That "Green Eggs and Ham" filibuster clip will kill him. It definitely turned me off on him as a serious candidate.

I think we need to take a break on niggra presidents for a bit. The first one kind of sucked.
I've always liked the Pauls.

Re: Rand Paul Gearing Up for a 2016 Run
As much as I would enjoy to see this, I suspect that this is more of a way for Carson to let the GOP know that he is serious about his political opportunities on a national level. Will probably pursue a high level cabinet position for whomever is the nominee.AZGrizFan wrote:http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2014/08 ... house-bid/
