Saw that this morning...thought it was a joke...

...then, remembered it was RS.

Underscores the clueless liberal.

They did, however, forget to include the speargun.

Seriously... not the Onion... Rolling Stone
From the article:

1. Pistols

They are the most commonly recovered firearm type reported by the ATF. With more than 119,000 pistols found at crime scenes in 2012, this handgun model holds an unfortunately solid first place in criminal weaponry.

2. Revolvers

Revolvers, named for their rotating chambered cylinder, placed second in the ATF's ranking of guns found at crime scenes more than 46,000 recovered in 2012, the most recent year for which statistics were kept.

3. Rifles

Law enforcement agencies pulled more than 39,000 from crime scenes in 2012, firmly establishing this weapon — designed to be fired from the shoulder — in third place on the ATF's trace list...According to FBI latest publicly available homicide records, in 2012 rifles were used to murder more than 320 people.

4. Shotguns

Per the FBI, shotguns were used in 303 murders in 2012. With 27,000 shotgun recoveries reported to the ATF in 2012, they are the fourth most common type of firearm confiscated at crime scenes.

5. Derringers

With just more than 2,000 recoveries in 2012

Eh. They're pretty much just copy and pasting ATF's data on weapons recovered at crime scenes and adding a picture.

Not interesting, really... one way or the other. :?

I'm not a big gun person but aren't revolvers and derringers pistols so that you could just say "pistols, rifles, and shotguns?"

It's really not surprising. Much of the stuff on their poli page is fairly weak. I started checking out RS for Taibbi and Hastings and I haven't been going back since they're both gone. But between those too and HST before them, RS had same great pieces of journalism.

But I'm glad you're having some fun now.

Yep, and that pretty much covers all guns.

Hence the sheer naivety and silliness of the article.

It would be like BDK writing an article about the most compassionate charities for kneegrows.
