From what I read (which was a scan of the Opinion), it is very narrowly focused.

I believe this only applies to closely held companies who have the owner with a specific belief.

Having just briefly read the Opinion, it specifically states that the Opinion is limited to the contraception portions of the ACA and not any other parts. Religious groups are already exempted from this aspect of the ACA so there were less restrictive means to achieve the goal if they legislators had wanted for this group as well.

Having just briefly read the Opinion, it specifically states that the Opinion is limited to the contraception portions of the ACA and not any other parts. Birth control is inexpensive. Even if it wasn't inexpensive, so what? It isn't the job of SCOTUS to make social policy. The matter before them concerned the Obamacare mandate vis-a-vis the RFRA, and nothing else.

Anyway, to the broader issue. You can't say, "Keep your hands off my body.", blather on about reproductive freedom and Roe v. Wade's contrived right to privacy, then demand that others pay for your fucking birth control.

And of course, ramrodding the law through after Brown won his election, running very strongly on his position that the bill was poor, and hoping to vote it in before he got there, didn't make the bill any better written or constructed.

The ruling only covered birth control methods that, techinically speaking, prevent an embryo from attaching to the uterus. It does not cover condoms, diaphragms, sponges (cue Seinfeld episode), certain types of birth control pills, and so on, that are birth control methods that work by preventing fertilization in the first place. So no, this ruling does not mean that these companies (and again, the ruling only applies to family-owned businesses with clear religious sentiments) now no longer have to provide coverage for contraception services. They still do, but the list of those services has gotten shorter.

Oh, and not using birth control is almost never a case of not being able to afford it. A lot of that stuff above is pretty cheap, and in some cases free, and has been for years. The biggest issue is with people just deciding to skip it and have sex anyway, despite the years and years of health education in schools and elsewhere that clearly say that sex without contraception could result in pregnancy. And yet they are still shocked when it happens.

Good point - obviously, many of those comments are based on a person's political point of view, hence why they deride it in one case and then cling on to it in another case. Political zealots are not exclusive to either party, they both have a bunch of them.

You beat me to it. Hobby Lobby is willing to pay for birth control such as the pill. They just don't want to pay for things like the morning after pill. But that little fact shouldn't get in the way of the hysteria about Hobby Lobby not wanting to pay for birth control.
