This post couldn't be more wrong. The current investment of time and money, not to mention lives, is a sunk cost. It's time to get out. If the founding fathers wanted us to stay they would have written it into the bill of rights.
I'm guessing GFSU served in Iraq. If I was in his shoes I can't say that I wouldn't have exact same sentiment.

I did serve in Desert Shield/Storm but I am trying to look at it objectively. I have a son that deployed to Afghanistan as well so sometimes it is hard to do that. For me it is that exact investment in time, time spent missing birthdays, anniversaries, stressing families that bothers me the most. I've gone and helped out families that have a family member deployed, they pay a price. I went to a party just the other night where we handed out comfort bears to a local unit's family that just deployed. For some of us, these wars are not already forgotten and we still have people deployed.
I am also not saying we need to put boots back on the ground yet, I don't know what the right answer is. We need to weigh the pros/cons of any and all options and not make this a Repub/Demo issue. I don't profess to be an expert in foreign affairs but what I am saying is, we have a huge investment and how do you look the people in the eye that paid that price and say sorry we wasted your time and lives. I am anxiously waiting for a plan, any plan. We can't just do nothing, that is the one option we can't leave on the table. I really do not want Obama to fail on this, I really don't.
