Surprised to not see any Cal Poly or SUU games on there. Not surprised to not see any Weber or NoDak games.

Portland State will also appear on TV two more times when they play Washington State and Oregon State (most likely on the Pac-12 Network). It's pretty remarkable to see them go from 0-1 televised games to almost half a season in only a few years. Now if we could only get people to show up to games...

Can't complain too much about this schedule. 4 games on Root just like this past season, plus the Sam Houston game on ESPN and the UW game on the Pac-12 network.

Disgusting that they only took one Hornet game....

SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.

Does Root only pick teams based on their network's geographic footprint?

Yep. ROOT Sports will only air games that involve teams in their footprint, which includes Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Montana. Idaho State should consider themselves lucky to have one game on TV even with being in the footprint.

Not entirely true.. their footprint is also Wyoming, Colorado, etc because Root Sports is also TV partners with the Mountain West (a much larger contract/partner than the Big Sky). So San Jose State, Fresno, SDSU games also appear on there.

Right. ROOT isn't just ROOT Northwest, it's ROOT Rocky Mountain too.

California doesn't fit in either range, though, so those teams kinda get the shaft.

Yeah, I realize that ROOT also covers MWC games, but I was talking more along the lines of how ROOT Sports chooses Big Sky games. It seems to me that ROOT Sports tries to make sure that, for the Big Sky, they air games that involve either UM, MSU, EWU, or PSU, due to the fact that 3 out of those 4 teams are traditional powers that bring in television viewers. Teams like UNC, Weber State, and Southern Utah, who are within that footprint most likely are out of luck in getting a game aired on TV if they aren't playing one of the 4 schools just mentioned.

We need to first work on getting the radio contract back. That mess of trying to stream the broadcast off off goviks the last half of the basketball season was absolutely terrible. It is possible to think that you're moving into "uncharted territory" when in fact there is a reason why no one else is doing it.
