Politicians are like Diapers; they need to be changed often and for the same reason

Only 19% believe that the federal Guvmint does the right thing most or nearly all the time.

Seems high to me. :coffee:

You have to google Asian porn before you visit this site, then the pop up ads aren't so bad.

I don't think the American People know what the hell they think. It's getting to the point where I think they answer these polls in ways they think will make them sound smart and/or sophisticated.

Like the article says "Seventy-two percent (72%) say it would be better for the country if most incumbents in Congress were defeated this November."

You know what's going to happen when people vote? Most of them are going to vote for incumbents. In fact I'd bet that most of the 72% who answered that way in this poll who vote are going to vote for incumbents.

The problem with the country isn't the politicians. It's the People. It really is. We've gotten to the point where the People have the government they deserve. Not every individual. But as a group they do.
Well, I believe that I must tell the truth
And say things as they really are
But if I told the truth and nothing but the truth
Could I ever be a star?

This ^ is pure GOLD right here... (Well said John)

It reminds me when I hear people complain about Wal-Mart
I frequently respond with something snarky like:
"Well then you hate America because we are Wal-Mart - it is what we have become and what we deserve"

Nonsense JSO. The right to vote carries absolutely no responsibilities and the more people we have voting the better!

There is no right to vote in the Constitution. Poll tests are really totally legitimate. Totally Constitutional at least in terms of what the Constitution actually says and does not say.

You make a test based strictly on testing to be sure a person has at least a rudimentary idea as to what the hell is going on and knows something about the concepts of the United States system in order to vote and you are providing equal protection. Everybody gets an equal chance to show that have at least a rudimentary idea as to what the hell is going on before they can vote.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with that.

I'm ok with that as long as someone with your mindset is not writing the test. For god's, the Texas Board of Education wanted to replace Thomas Jefferson with Ronald Reagan in text books a few years back. :ohno:
