NAU fans.....whats coming?
itscomingnau.com/
Ok....any guesses here? I'm sure we will all be let down on the 26th, but what could it be? I've seen multiple commercials, people wearing shirts, and everybody is tweeting about it. The nau announcer said it will be "historic" and he can only describe it as "seismic." Guesses? Me, my long shot hope is that they will announce a new basketball facility. Big long shot though. It will probably be something stupid like a new logo. Maybe they will cut football and men's basketball and add women's field hockey?

They will be cutting Women's basketball and starting a women's beach volleyball team.

JMU should have their entire team suspended every time they decide to throw their "I am a douche" streamers.TribeFanInNC wrote:Jumping to the Sun Belt now that JMU says they are staying put in the CAA?

Re: NAU fans.....whats coming?
Why would they have to cut women's hoops to field a beach volleyball team? The basis for a beach volleyball team is an indoor volleyball team, which most schools (including NAU) already have. The infrastructure is already there as most schools with both use the indoor coaching staff to coach outdoor. Essentially, like indoor and outdoor track, it's just a way to get more schollies for volleyball. The biggest expense would be a set of sand pits, which can be done VERY quickly and VERY cheaply. UOP started theirs last year on 04 MAR, and it was ready in time for the home opener (a tournament) on 14 APR. I believe Sac's facilities were done similarly. AVCA estimates construction costs to be about $20-40K/court, and most have about three. That's $120K TOPS for construction. VERY cheap in the world of facilities construction. NAU could EASILY do this if they wanted to, as could every school in the conference.grizzaholic wrote:jacksdude0109 wrote:itscomingnau.com/

The fact you wrote an entire paragraph to respond to that post is the saddest thing…SuperHornet wrote:Why would they have to cut women's hoops to field a beach volleyball team? The new "ax" logo with NAU in it is pretty cool...the cartoon lumberjack is just bad.

Re: NAU fans.....whats coming?
Im indifferent towards it all. The new Louie definitely isn't awful. The logo looks too futuristic, like the logo for a computer company or something. Doesn't look like it belongs on a football helmet. With whiskey around for another 4 years and the new uniforms/logo, I think we sent a BIG message to the rest of the conference. "Well be mediocre or awful, but well look fantabulous doing it."

Liked the old one, sort of like the new one as well. Think it needs to grow on me a bit but on first impression it's pretty decent to me.

In the fad-obsessed, constant "rebranding" world of college athletic programs these days, NAU at least did relatively good by not making themselves look worse.

Re: NAU fans.....whats coming?
Au contraire, mon ami. NAU's new threads look absolutely HIDEOUS. WAY too tight. The font is nearly illegible, particularly for the numbers.
Resurrecting a throwback uni would have been better. As is the case for most teams.

What is it with you and "tight" uniforms? That's the way it's supposed to fucking be. Less drag = more speed. Common sense. Get so tired of hearing that same shit all the time.

Re: NAU fans.....whats coming?
Who wants to watch a bunch of track sprinters play football? We all saw how THAT experiment went with Renaldo Nehemiah. Besides, having to looking at that crap on a lineman is freaking disgustipating. True skill position players can run "fast" HOWEVER the uniform is cut. We shouldn't have to see how big a guy's package is to get "speed" out of him.
