Obamacare has helped nearly 10 million people to get new health insurance...
Even if they didn't want new health insurance.

Now the test for Obamacare will be "does it work". I'll assume it will, as most health plans do.

The GOP is going to have to have to find something new to talk about. There will be too many people on Obamacare by 2016 to "just repeal it". Instead they'll have to for the first time, come up with a viable alternative to Obamacare. Otherwise Ted Cruz & Co. are DOA.

7 million of those were already insured with plans they liked and doctors they liked. You know, those things Obama said they could keep and then they couldn't?

The key is still what to do with the large population of uninsured, which Obamacare has only put a dent into. According to Gallup, there's still 36 million people out there who are not insured, despite that being the supposed aim of this legislation.

Another objective of the legislation was to lower costs. That seems not to have worked out very well.

The New York Times reports that the Barack Obama administration has changed the survey so that we cannot directly compare the numbers on the uninsured over time.

The changes are intended to improve the accuracy of the survey, being conducted this month in interviews with tens of thousands of households around the country. But the new questions are so different that the findings will not be comparable, the officials said.
Not sure it is directly related, but..........

By my own experience......

I think Obama Care is a humungous, bastardized elephant that is way bigger and complex than it needed to be and has many things that in time need to be changed and/or fixed. However, as I stated before, the GOP refused to do anything about health care since it started tumbling out of control in the early 90's (or even before). They refused to even touch the topic so what do people expect. When you neglect a problem year after year after year does it go away?

Obama took on the topic and even though the result is not what many people wanted, at least it's here and the issue of health care NOW HAS TO BE DEALT WITH and can no longer be ignored. In a couple more years the GOP may even realize that maybe they should put their efforts into making it better, because they will not get rid of it!

My wife and I were both denied medical insurance do to previous conditions back in 2003. I had had my hips replaced previously and she had some allergy issues or something minor like that. We were both denied at any premium....

My wife used to work in a cancer clinic and had to deal with people every day that chose death over treatment because they didn't have medical insurance........couldn't afford treatment....I won't go into this any further at this point as she also dealt with children and families that couldn't get insurance.....

Obama Care is here and is forcing the issue to be front and center in the political realm. For that I am thank full. And as I've stated before, IMO Obama care is the direct result of the GOP neglecting to tackle an issue when it had years and years and years of opportunities to do so. Don't blame the Dem's for what you got do to neglect.......But, the GOP will again have the opportunity to help fix what needs fixing and actually help the people of this country if they choose... :twocents:

I don't think we've seen the end solution YET so I disagree that no solution is a better choice...IMO people should be looking at this as a work in progress..It's out of the cage and MUST be dealt with.

Sorry Victor, but it sounds like you've been listening to Donk talking points (and Chizzy) than the facts. Conks have made countless proposals over the years in an attempt to bend the cost curve down only to meet extreme resistance from Donks. Just a few examples are tort reform, tax incentives, allowing insurance companies to sell policies across state lines, high risk pools, association health plans, etc. etc.
Donks don't don't care about insuring the uninsured or lowering the cost of health care (just look at Obamacare). Their only goal is single payer control of our health care system. It's all about power and control.

Really...
So having control of both the House and the Senate
and still NOTHING was passed..? For a 6 year period in the late 90's Republicans controlled both House & Senate up till 2001...

Image

Every graph I look at shows large swaths of time where Republicans had both the House and the Senate so what were they waiting for..? Why no progress during those periods..?

Let me repeat myself:
I would continue to not expect anything resembling a good idea coming from the Right...

Clinton would have vetoed any bill presented by a republican controlled senate/house. Obama had the luxury of not having that problem.

Bush and the GOP controlled all three (House, Senate, Presidency) from 2002-2006, but they considered the tax cuts and the Imperial War Machine to be more important than healthcare (which ironically would have generated enough revenue to pay for any version of their "plans"). They have no one to blame but themselves.

By that criterium, it's already a massive failure. One easy test would be usability. Doctors nationwide have been rejecting it left and right. Kinda sucks to be forced to buy something that you can't use.
