First off, nice Straw Man - esque analogy.Chizzang wrote:SeattleGriz wrote:
It's a tough book to not only read, but especially difficult to understand the original context of the words. Makes perfect sense that someone who was looking to discredit the Bible would read it more often, and those that accept it are fine with listening to those who actually went to school and studied the Bible.
Have you read the Bible in it's entirety?
Sadly,
I see you're going with the Nancy Pelosi defense...
Something like: "We should pass this bill to see whats in it"
and have the trained experts define its meaning for everybody else
Yes that attitude is much to the joy of Big Church Inc.
And yes in Theology 101 the books of the Bible are required reading - so I read them
The real story of the bible is not "the words" as you put it - and their willful misinterpretation - by those who seek to control others, but the handling and editing of the words over the centuries and the ultimate and final application of the books as a tool against human growth and enlightenment...
That's the most interesting part of the bible frankly
Secondly, you are telling me it is not okay for the average layperson to get guidance on the Bible from someone who is educated in it's context on one hand, but on the other you tell me you needed to take a class called Theology 101 to understand the Bible and learn it's real dark underbelly?
Lastly, you are saying the World's largest scam is being perpetrated because the truth of the Bible is being misrepresented in plain daylight, for all to read and discover, only if they would have only taken Theology 101.
Now I see your logic and can understand how you think Christians are misguided.
Let's not forget your absurd statement that the Bible is being used as a tool against human growth and enlightenment. By the way, you can thank Christians for starting the colleges that have Theology 101 in their curriculum. Pure Genius move!!!
