Re: Final 4 & National Champion Predictions
I'm sorry, but watching Cuntucky get call after call after call when bowling through the lane against Wisconsin just personified everything that is wrong with athletics. There had to be 15 times where a charge should have been called and wasn't...it got to the point where it was almost comical. Felt REALLY sorry for the Wisconsin guys...they played very sound, fundamental basketball and got fucked by the refs.Seahawks08 wrote:It's the antichrist vs. SatanAZGrizFan wrote:If the NC game ends up being UConn vs Kentucky, I will NOT be watching.

Then it wouldn't be, "Black history month", would it, genius?dal4018 wrote:Black history month is all yr around in case you have forgotten.Cluck U wrote:

What if a white coach wins? Can you name all the white winners or are only black people important to you?![]()
Can you name the team this year with the most white players on it? How about the last team to win it with a majority of white players? Any teams with Asians, or an Asian coach/assistant coach? How about the white versus black cheerleader ratios?
Can you name the last championship team to not have one of their black players arrested? How about naming a championship team that graduated all of their black players...or had a white player who failed out?
These stats are an important part of our history.
Say, can you name all the white coaches that have won a NCAA Basketball championship, or are you just a typical racist, thug?

I watched 10 minutes of the game to see if I could care about either team. Wisconsin was winning, but Kentucky's players were repeatedly plowing through defenders and not getting called for a charge.
I hope UConn wins...Ollie is a good story and those KY players should have been watching at home, but I won't be watching the game tonight.

I also prefer UConn out of this matchup, but I'll see if there are any good movies on cable.

33 NCAA appearances, 4 Final Fours and a 49-33 record isn't enough? Exactly which team from the vaunted MVC can match that?clenz wrote:you mean fans that are exactly like nova fans...but of a team that's actually accomplished something?Seahawks08 wrote:
First 7 seed to do it would be pretty sweet. But I don't want to deal with their fans, so I'll be rooting for either Florida or Wisconsin to win it all!

Stay on topic dip shit.
32 appearances
30 Round of 32
17 Sweet 16s
11 Elite Eights
6 final fours
3 national titles (playing for a 4th)
57-29 record (going to be 58-29 or 57-30 after tonight)
9 1 seeds
10 Big East Regular Season titles
7 Big East Tournament titles
Along with that, they have
13 lottery picks since 1994
7 Big East POY (and an AAC POY)
7 BE DPOY
6 Consensus 1st Team AA
6 BET MVP
5 BE FOY
4 National DPOY
4 BE COY
3 NCAA MOP
2 Cousey Award winners
1 Newell Big Man award
1 national COY
1 NABC POY
Like I said...UCONN and Nova fans are a lot a like...UCONN just has a lot more shit to brag about
Re: Final 4 & National Champion Predictions
After a little more digging...
I found Nova has only made it to the second weekend 5 times since I was born in 1988 (09 - FF, 08 S16, 06, EE, 05 EE) and are just 20-16 since their national title...
UCONN is 50-14 over that same time span of my life.
Nova basketball isn't a huge power to anyone under 30ish. They are a program that was great in the 70s and early 80s and has since become a good program that seems to put together a decent run ever couple years.
The programs "my generation" recognize as HUGE powers are
Duke
UNC- and falling
UCONN
Florida
Kentucky
Kansas
Then there is a drop into a category of "Yeah, they're always good but never a *real* NC threat.

In my 30's it was St. Johns, Nova, Georgetown, UNC and UCLA. Now, NONE of those are relevant.clenz wrote:After a little more digging...

Re: Final 4 & National Champion Predictions
They all fall into the has been category.
Nova, UNC, and G'Town living almost completely off of that reputation.
UCLA at least has 3 FF in the last decade with K-Love...but other than that they are a non-factor nationally to anyone under 30-35.
St. Johns? Well....Yeah....

Let's take it a little easy on UNC - they did win the national title in 2005 and 2009. The other teams in that list would kill for that kind of production in even the last 30 years.clenz wrote:They all fall into the has been category.

Funny you mention G'town - I was watching Boyz n the Hood last night, noticed that Tre wore a G'town T-shirt. Back then (early 90's/late 80's) G'town was popular nationwide. Now, not so much.

according to vutomcat (and some people on ags) Georgetown is still as nationally relevant, if not more so, now as ever....dbackjon wrote:clenz wrote:They all fall into the has been category.

Still need to resort to name calling. I always know I Embarrassed you when you do that. You brought Nova into this and claimed they have nothing to brag about. You were wrong. Nova has one of the top programs historically. If you don't want to be called out. Stop posting with erroneous facts.clenz wrote:What does the MVC have to do with this?vutomcat wrote:

I'd ignore me too if I was completely schooled time after time after time after time about a program I call myself a fan of
Re: Final 4 & National Champion Predictions
Actually chime to think of it the posters who got offended by me saying Georgetown isn't a national name like it used to be, which is true, were trying to convince me that Georgetown football (along with Holy Cross, Lehigh, Lafayette,etc...) were huge national draws as well.
I think you guys out east need to look at a map and see what national actually means
