Compassionate Liberals

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (AP) -- A Colorado girl who shaved her head to support a friend who went bald because of cancer treatment has been told she violated her school's dress code.

Kamryn Renfro of Grand Junction shaved her head to help Delaney Clements get through chemotherapy. Kamryn at first wasn't allowed to return to classes at Caprock Academy, the charter school she attends. The academy later said she could return, but the school's board of directors is expected to discuss her situation at a meeting Tuesday evening.

The (Grand Junction) Daily Sentinel reports that the school board's chairwoman says the school's the dress code is designed to promote uniformity and a non-distracting environment. She said exceptions can be made under extraordinary circumstances. The board will decide whether they should make an exception.
We had a similar situation at my kids school but not only did the school immediately allow it, they went out of their way to recognize the unselfish act of the friend. Or course our school was more evenly divided along political beliefs, so it was more moderate by nature.

When I was in the 6th grade, at my evil Catholic school, we did this for a friend. The PE teacher shaved our heads after school one day. There was no problem. :coffee:

How is this a liberal thing. :suspicious:

(BTW, I'm all for uniformity and even mandatory uniforms…both of which you'd think would be more of a conservative thing)

Would you like to wager on the political make-up of this school?

From the school handbook, page 1...
The Caprock Academy Difference
“Competition from charter schools is the best way to motivate the ossified bureaucracies governing too many public schools. This grass-roots revolution seeks to reconnect public education with our most basic values: ingenuity, responsibility, and accountability.”
--Senator Joseph Lieberman
I'll let you retract now if you like.

1). Liberals are generally against charter schools.

You're wrong on this one. I will guarantee the admin, teachers and parents are 90%+ liberals.

Read the comments...

First of all I am a student at Caprock and I have been with Caprock since the beginning. I disagree with many parents opinions on here...

As for the parent on here that said our school is liberal...then the school isn't for you.

Agreed, but Donks are in complete denial about their culpability. THAT'S what's fucking comical.
