Wegmans is incredible. I stay there for hours at a time whenever I go there (which is rare since there isn't one within 2 hours)

Hypothetical question....

Suppose I took 100 dedicated whole foods shoppers and gave them a sample of Cracker Barrel steak and told them it was organic meat from a fancy restaurant. Then I give them some expensive steak from the fancy place and tell them it's Cracker Barrel steak. Would anyone be willing to bet me that a vast majority of people wouldn't tell you the real Cracker Barrel steak was better?

This type of experiment has already been done in various ways with wine. No reason to think the same principle wouldn't hold for food.

I've never been impressed with any upscale dining or "quality" food products I've eaten. Maybe I'm just a rural philistine, or maybe I'm just rational about food. :coffee:

^^ Nope, this pretty much sums it up. I guaranfuckentee you that the same meat in your chain supermarket is the same shit they pedal in Whole Foods. USDA grades the cut, beyond that it matters little to me. Unless you are pedaling certified organic (I don’t look for that so someone else can chime in there), price wise you want the best $/lb you can find so long as it sticks to those USDA gradients.

Personally I favor Costco for bulk raw meat purchases. I have yet to find a place that beats Costco on $/lb price vs taste for rib eye.

Lastly, I always chuckle when I hear people get in a pissing match about where the best place to eat a steak is. If you can’t buy yourself a quality cut at your local market and grill it yourself then you should just turn in your man card. :coffee:

Cracker Barrel used to be a good place to get books on CD for driving

The food is ass- their collard greens are not properly cooked

Funny you should mention that...
Because sometimes the salad bar at Whole Foods has a Sesame soy collard green salad that is delicious
it is distinctly NOT boiled down slop which I'm 100% sure is how they are delivered at Cracker Barrel

My company wants us to EAT AT Whole foods (begs us to) they don't want fat sickly employees
so our per diem on lunch goes from $15 to $20

Because as noted the eat out food at whole foods is expensive (and deliciously wholesome)

When I say "not properly cooked" I am not referring to the pinko communist salad you just put up there

I was confident that the Sesame Soy ginger Collard Green salad image
would be akin to kicking you in the balls

The only lower blow would have been a Seattle Hippie chick holding the salad

BOOM

I'm going to give you acouple of these now: :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy:

That gal is RIGHT up my alley- precisely the opposite of what you think - I'd hit it like the Fist of God

but first (and here's where I'm a hypocrite) - I would set her up thinking I'm some wind powered freak from Portland in a necktie- or maybe a carbon trader - I'd be sensitive pajama guy for the requisite 2-3 weeks it would take to loosen her up

then I'd do my thing, and right after I'd show her my 20 year old collection of Reason and National Review
