Not bad for an over rated team with only one good win.
Glad you admit it.

I agree, a 2 or 3 seed is great for a team with their record.

No...

Big East fans only want their dicks sucked 24/7 and to believe they are better off without Syracuse, Louisville, UCONN, Pitt, and Cincinnati. They want to believe that Seton Hall, Providence, and DePaul are national powers that should be respected. They want to believe that a win over a 7 win Temple team is a good win because Temple is in Philly and it's a rivalry game. The want to believe that Creighton won't let them down with an epic tournament exit before the S16 and that Creighton will be just fine without Doug McDermott and Grant Gibbs. They want to believe that Butler didn't pull the coups of the century and is still going to be a nationally respected program and not fall to the level of DePaul...who according to them is nationally relevant. They want to believe that losing to a bottom half team in their conference shows how great the league is top to bottom...not that the top might be mediocre or that if it happens elsewhere it means the same...no in that conference it means the top is overrated. They want to believe Marquette is a HUGE national name with a ton of respect. I live just a couple hours from their campus (less than 4 hours) and not two squirts of piss are given about them outside of the city of Milwaukee in the Midwest...most couldn't even tell you it's in Milwaukee without guessing strictly because it's one of 4 cities in that state anyone knows (Green Bay, Madison, and maybe Eau Clair/La Cross being the others). They want to believe that Georgetown has the national pull that they did in the 80s...it might out east but Georgetown doesn't exist west of the Appalachians to 98% of the population except when they find a way to epically flame out of the tournament way earlier than the ESPN hype machine (which only exists for Georgetown between March 4th and their exit of the NCAAs) leads people to believe the should. They want to believe that after this season they are still a top 5 conference when many many indicators point to them falling well behind the rest of the "Big boys"...and likely the A10. They want to raid the A10, thinking it will make them a major player again...yes because nothing says major national player like small, private, regional schools.

They don't want a conversation...that's what they want. It's best to let them have that...and let the rest of us live in reality.

That's the world that Big East fan lives in - especially those out east.

No..is Iowa still considered a good win...answer the question.

Iowa....mind you...just lost to northwestern in the first round of the big 10 tourney...Iowa has lost 7 of the last 8...Iowa is the second worst b1g program record worse the last month and a half to two months...

Is Iowa still a good win
After reading some of the garbage posted, let me start here. This depends how you qualify a "good" win. If you look at the game in a bubble, which means how they were playing at the time, then yes, it is a good win. If you look at it as a season's body of work, then no it is not. I argue the former is more reliable since teams lose players to injury or get tired out during the season due to lack of depth. But if you take the latter stance, then I can argue that St. Joseph's was a quality win after what they have done recently. It's all about how you argue it. :thumb:

I agree, a 2 or 3 seed is great for a team with their record
Nova is not a 3 seed, no matter how you look at it. 6th in RPI, 6th in BPI, and 6th on Kenpom. They are solidified as a #2 even with that loss against Seton Hall.

It was likely really mostly a reaction of Vutomcat on this thread who has been as Big East biased as anyone I have seen.

So in reality, the final #1 spot will likely be between Michigan (likely favorite if it wins today), Nova, Duke, and UVA (maybe but likely 2 with a win). Also, fighting for the 2 spot are Kansas and Wisconsin which means 1 of those 6 will fall to a 3 seed.

Creighton looked slow and tired last night. Their lack of depth hurt them with their third game in as many days. Great win for Providence. Looks like four teams are in for this 10 team "dead" conference. GO BIG EAST!!!

Your sarcasm failed. Your comment is spot on. I don't think 'Nova is a top 8 team, but they are probably going to get a 2 seed. They were ranked #3 in the last poll, which is why I call them over rated. I would rank them around 9 or 10. Either way, they will get a high seed and will be in a position to prove themselves over the next few weeks.

Holy shit..

You mean exactly what I've said all fucking year would happen is starting to happen?

No fucking way.

I think, I'll go back and check, that I said Creighton is built for the regular season when the can litterally not have practice (which is documented from years past) and have 4-5 days off between games to rest but will struggle come tournament time when their rotation of 6.5-7 players is forced to play a lot of minutes in a short time...

Fuck....I think I do remember saying that.

Look what I said less than 2 fucking months ago about Creighton...Then...look what happened.

I just think you are slow to realize how good they are because of prior years. If nothing lease they proved they can beat anyone when they are on.
Anyone can beat anyone when you make 21 3 points...

Fuck, NJIT would have a punchers chance against Syracuse hitting 21 3s.

Am I saying it is impossible to for CU to make it to the S16, or further? No.

What I am saying is that CU is REALLY GOOD at smoke and mirrors during the regular season and then, because they don't have any depth...ever...they fall at the end of the year.[/u]

What happens if/when they don't hit that many threes...confidence falls a tad, tired legs, etc...

Conference tournament where they play 3 or 4 games in 3 or 4 days...they get into the NCAA tournament where they play 2 out of 3 days of high intensity basketball? They aren't built for that..Greg McDermott teams have NEVER been built for that. They are great during the season when you get 4-5 days rest between games. It's not a "huge deal" when you only go 6-7 deep on a regular basis but you only play twice per week. Why do you think CU does nothing in practice? Well, not nothing but they have probably the lightest practices in CBB. I remember last season there was a practice watch on CU because for about a 2 or 3 week stretch at the end of the season McDermott, Gibbs, Etchenique, Chattman, Wragge, Manigat, and Artino didn't practice at all outside of just shooting. Why was that? Because that was 95% of their minutes played per game right there and they couldn't afford to be working any harder in practice and still play a game.

Now, maybe McDermott has completely changed coaching styles after 15ish years of being a HC...doubtful.
Maybe he is playing his players less MPG...not actually happening

Don't believe me if you dont want too, and I'll eat crow if CU finally gets to as many Sweet 16s at UNI and Southern Illinois...Until then please continue to fall into their smoke and mirrors. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me...fool me every single year with McDermotts sub .500 Feb/March record...not fucking happening.

Probably, but I'd be a little worried if I were Xavier right now. Finishing the season 6-8 doesn't look good.

I'm used to dealing with fuck heads like the Big East has...Like I said I've followed Creighton very very closely for over a decade being that they were conference rivals with UNI since 1992...fought head to head over recruits on a yearly basis...are just 5 hours apart by car. I grew up in western Iowa. I know Creighton's basketball program better than vutomwhateverhisnameis ever will. The Creighton fan base is exactly like vuwhatever. The inflated sense of self well beyond what is actually earned is what Creighton is...it's what the Big East is. I've learned that they won't listen to any logic, any reasoning, and facts, anything. The only thing they want to hear is the sound of you sucking their dicks 24/7. Because of that the best way to deal with them is exactly as I have in this thread...shred them with facts/reasoning, listen to them tell you how wrong you are, then kindly point out how right you were with the extreme vast majority of what you've said then sit back and watch them squirm out of it and try to spin it their way.

As I've said in this thread - I'll go quote it if you'd like - if CU makes the Elite 8 - or even the S16 to match how many S16s that Bradley, Southern Illinois, UNI, Florida Golf Coast, etc... have since the 70s I'll eat crow and admit that Creighton was able to do something they haven't ever done. Until then you can't ignore history. You can't ignore what Creighton basketball has been to a T for the last decade or so. You can't ignore anything I've said...because it's all true.

You did say that and this thread is full of references to your prediction. You will get full credit if it happens but the NCAA tourney is different than conference tourneys. There are no back to back games let alone three in three days. Time will tell if you are correct.

My two teams (who are well documented elsewhere on this site), other than UNI, are Michigan and Louisville. I've been a Michigan fan my entire life and have family in Louisville who are season ticket holders to FB, VB, MBB, and WBB. I've been to Louisville FB and BB games. I've been on the season ticket waiting list for Michigan FB for close to a decade now.

I realize the NCAA is different...doesn't seem to matter with Creighton. The intensity and quick turnaround for them is the same issue as conference tournaments. There is a reason their record is what it is in the NCAAs even though they rather highly regarded every season.

You didn't ask me but...

Delaware (obviously)
UConn - used to go to UConn games when I was a kid, I am a lifelong fan.
St Joe's and Villanova - I live near Philly and I always support the city teams. I'd support Penn, Temple, LaSalle and Drexel if they were in the tourney. Especially Drexel since I have a degree from there as well.

Top 3 are obvious but here is what I think for the 4th 1 (not a prediction of what they'd do but my thought

UVA - 28-6. Won the ACC regular and tournament. Has won 16 of last 17 games and has 6 top 50 rpi wins including 3 top 25 wins. Worst loss is to RPI 75 Maryland

Okay then. I'll replace Iowa with St. Josephs as another quality win for Nova. Not that it matters anymore. 8-)

Well now, this should be interesting. St. Joes vs. Uconn then winner takes on Nova most likely. At least you'll have a team in the sweet 16! :thumb:

I wouldn't argue St. Joes

24-9
32 RPI
51 SOS
3-3 vs top 25 6-5 against the top 50 10-8 against the top 100
A10 tourney champ
Trending up as the season went up winning 9 of last 11

Iowa on OTOH

20-12
64 RPI (and falling like a 2 ton brick to end the season)
Lost 8 of last 12 and 9 of last 14 with 3 of those W's being against Northwestern, Purdue, and Illinois (before their little run)
Lost to Northwestern in the first round of the B10 tourney.
Their non-ET OOC opponents have current RPIs of 282 208 349 343 289 274 267.
That means against the top 200 (including 200) in RPI they are 13-12
2-8 against the RPI top 25, 5-9 against the RPI top 50 and 6-10 against the top 100

Tell me again how Iowa would be considered a anything more than an average win - other than they are a B10 team - at this point.
