Biden has been around much longer (so of course you will find more gaffes), and has shown ability in certain areas. Palin was a fish out of water as soon as she left Alaska.

Personal opinion but all other things being equal I think that being a governor of any state (small or large) even for a short time better prepares you to be POTUS than being a long-time Senator. A Governor has to run the executive branch of the state while working with the state legislature. A Senator has to run their staff. It's two different worlds from a complexity perspective.

That sounds good in theory, but I don't think it always proves true. Jimmy Carter's pre-POTUS resume was as good as anyones.

I've seen nothing from Palin to indicate that she could handle the job. She's a pretty face and gives a good first impression, but that's about it. She governed a big state, with lots of natural resources and few people.

Got it. I don't know that it is worse because we have always had demagogues, showmen and clowns. I do think it feels worse because for a large part my life there was substantially one party rule and now we are for the most part a 50/50 country. It also feels worse because the media ( what ever that is now) also has its share of demagogues, showpeople and clowns.

Nice try, everybody knows that Biden is great at putting his foot in his mouth, in fact, I think Geico used it in a commercial. You'll have to do better than a 'spanos imitation.

I'm basing my opinion on their overall body of work, not just some clips. I'm more focused on content of what they are trying to say, you're hung up on minutiae.

Like him or not, Biden has been a player in DC for over 40 years, and has been in the national spotlight for over 25 years. You don't last in DC that long and get to do the stuff he has done if you aren't capable. You may not like his politics, but he is at least as competent as your average politician (which isn't saying much).

Palin began wilting the moment she got exposed to the national spotlight. The more she speaks, the worse she sounds and I'm not talking sound bites, I'm talking content; she doesn't know what she is talking about. She may have been fine as an obscure Gov. of Alaska, but she can't handle the big stage. And before you blame the liberal media for doing a hatchet job on her, keep in mind that the same media did the same thing to Bush and Cheney and they could take the heat.

I don't think Palin is literally a moron, but she is not ready for prime time.
