Obviously I have my issues with our Military and it's myriad of contractors...
But if we're going to hire soldiers - frankly - I'd rather us make a few less billion dollar jets and pay these guy like kings

That's just my opinion... which is subject to change

Why pay a grunt like a king when most grunts never see a bit of unfriendly fire? And, if you want to pay someone well for risking their life, pay a mercenary the big bucks for the short time you need them.
These signatures have a 500 character limit?

What if I have more personalities than that?

Didn't work out so well for Rome or England. :coffee:

It isn't their fault if diplomats reach solutions without them. Or they used to anyway. :coffee:

Hazard Duty Pay. :coffee: Just sayin'..

Maybe if the Army taught its soldiers (or at least the spouses) how to manage money, then they wouldn't be going for food stamps. Living on base has so many benefits that seriously add up.

^^That should shut everyone up.^^ It should, but it won't.

People today have champagne taste on a beer budget. Enlisted men and women get paid well for 18-20 yrs old with a high school diploma. Yes, it is not easy for the spouses of soldiers and marines to find work but there are plenty of resources to help you out. My in-laws were both Air Force once was an officer and the other was a reservist. Every 3 years one of them had to find a job and you know what, all except one duty station, both had jobs. Sometimes they held multiple jobs when times were tough. My cousins wife, has a bachelors in business and was able to find a job when they were transferred to Japan last year. My cousin married a Nuke submariner and was able to find a job (she lives in Seattle).

Actually, SCHOOLS should make it mandatory to teach kids about finances. I am absolutely amazed that time, and a lot of it, in school isn't devoted to teaching kids about money.

Then again, our education system was set up specifically to provide the country a workforce. Teaching kids about money would make most of them see that spending their money on crap would not lead to a good financial future, so most would reduce their discretionary spending and our whole consumer based economy would collapse.

Of course, we don't want the truth because deep down in places we don't talk about at parties, we want those spenders at our Wal-Marts, we need them at our Wal-Marts. :thumb:

The Military has a large Family Support system. Use it, and you should not have to depend on Food Stamps.

I believe our entire active ground fighting force should be mercenary...
Of course that's a ridiculous notion - but - I think we'd be better off frankly

Mercenary soldiers create a few issues (obviously)
But they also solve a whole sh!t load of problems
My old man once told me - he said - "After Vietnam everything changed... politicians became generals and the TV news became the enemy of the foot soldier"
blah blah blah...
Then he says
"If we were smart, from now on all active duty foot soldiers would be mercenaries"

Back in the old days, they used to say, "If the Army wanted you to have wife, it would have issued you one."

At some point the Army decided it wanted family men, because the thought was that they were more grounded, and the social engineering politicians loved it. Of course, families cost a lot of money. The Army had to expend more on family housing, medical services, family centers, etc.

The best junior enlisted soldiers that I had were single. They were usually smarter, more responsible, had fewer money problems and had goals like college after their military service. Almost all of the married junior enlisted troops were fucked up beyond belief.
