Ozzie Smith, bankrolled by Budweiser, is petitioning the government to declare baseball Opening Day a federal holiday.

That probably wouldn't help me much, but I like the idea. Opening Day is huge in places like Chicago, Cincinnati, and Boston, so I'm sure they'd love it.

Now the concept has been so butchered (with games in Japan, Australia, etc) and spread out over a fucking week that the concept of "Opening Day" is an oxymoron. Besides, baseball has become less and less relevant to Americans over the years....
