Why are you all of a sudden in favor of government mandating how the private sector markets their products? :suspicious:
If you stretched your mind instead of trying to stretch weak arguments, you might actually start to get a reputation as an intelligent poster. Instead, you are stuck on stupid. Wait, Chizz would want me to say, "THAT post is stupid," instead of "YOU are stupid."

So, that post, of yours, is stupid. :thumb:

I don't mind local government being involved in providing guidelines involving information regarding safety issues.
You really believe this is a "safety" issue? :dunce:

He knows what he's talking about. He worked on a farm one summer and his grandpappy painted a barn roof. :coffee:

Science will determine that. Plenty of examples of things that we thought were safe turned out to be very bad for our health 30 years down the road. You probably ate copious amounts of lead when you were a child and now there is no going back.

In the meantime, I don't see a problem with a local government wanting a food supplier to provide simple information on their labels.
These signatures have a 500 character limit?

What if I have more personalities than that?

How many studies have to show no adverse effect before it becomes settled science? I'm sure that lead-based paints and fuels weren't as rigorously studied as GMO products have been.

Same goes for organic, which is the biggest marketing crock-o-shit since New Coke
I tend to personally agree with this. But again - I don't shop for the shit - I just eat it.

It just seems to me to be common sense that when you alter anything from it's natural state, there will be side effects. If there were absolutely positive, health related side effects to GMO, then we wouldn't have these conversations.

Tweaking a few genes in a tomato to make it grow bigger isn't going to magically give you cancer. Get a grip. :coffee:

And then there are those pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, surfactants, etc. that a farmer needs to use if he plants non-GMO...

Of course we would. Just from your own reasoning that "alter anything from it's natural state, there will be side effects" mentality, you are already assuming that there are side effects and until we know all of them (uncertain how we ever determine if we've ever deduced everything that could happen when making a change) you'll assume the worst. That's why we have these conversations and why we will continue to have them because we can't ever prove anything to be 100% safe so some people will continue to doubt then.

Cluck,
You are really making strides (I am so proud of you)
See how much better that felt - rather than demeaning or belittling the poster (our beloved Grizalltheway)
You specifically made note of his post

Which is what you take issue with - not the man - but the post
There is hope for you yet, like I said, I'm really proud of you
