Oh. I see you are using the Ron Paul method of counting every US embassy, consulate, and remote outpost as a "base".

The fact of the matter is that the US continues to maintains only 20 large bases overseas and has over 1,000 personnel in only 9 countries: Afghanistan, Germany, Japan, South Korea, UK, Italy, Kuwait, Iraq, and Turkey.

The Delmarva peninsula below the C&D Canal should secede and call itself...Delmarva.

There you go again, bringing facts into a good emotional argument...

And with the next budget (Fy15) those numbers will drop...count on it...

I dunno. I'm not a Republican and even I'll have to agree with 89 that when you look at every district in Maryland, gerrymandering has never been done more artfully. Seriously, look at all the districts in the original Western Maryland thread from last year:

viewtopic.php?f=10&t=36966

Some examples:

While not nearly as bad as that, Look at this:

Looks like all of Charleston is in the 1st District...well it is, except for the poor black spots of the city of CHarleston. They lumped them in with the rural farmers of different counties. Not really fair to them. These people cross Calhoun street and everything goes to someone else. The poor of North Charleston/Charlestons East side have 0 in common with the rural farmers and small towns they are grouped with.

Yup.
The department saves more than $12 billion a year from the five BRAC rounds announced in 1988, 1991, 1993, 1995 and 2005.
DOD needs BRAC, Kendall said, to help carry out the balanced reductions required to comply with the $487 billion in cuts mandated by the Budget Control Act of 2011. The fiscal 2014 budget request assumes that a BRAC 2015 round will be a key component in reducing personnel in line with mandated reductions.
“In today’s environment, as we work to cobble together contingency plans on how to deal with the sequester over the long haul, a $6 billion investment that yields a $3 billion annual payback would be extraordinarily welcome,” he said.

We have mountains (don't start), rivers with falls, rolling hills, the Chesapeake, farmland, beaches...It's a beautiful state, it's just the government that wrecks it.

As I explained last late Sept, he invited me to his tailgate for the JMU @ UD game. But due to the UD tailgating NAZIs who only open the lots up 4 hrs before a game, by the time I got set up which included:
-20 ft telescoping flagpole with 2 flags
-portable L shaped bar with bar stools, giant umbrella.
-32" LCD TV with digital antenna, powered by deep cycle marine battery with inverter (couldn't get reception. Was told by UD people it was due to Iron Hill?)
-grill
-table
and then got everything broken down again (I did have a frat brother with me who had recently moved to N MD that I hadn't seen in a couple of years, plus met people that distracted us from breaking down earlier), we had no time to go way out of my way on the walk to the stadium to stop by his tailgate, then visit the Piss Wall and make our seats by kickoff. Barely made our seats by kickoff as it was....

Now if I'd been by myself or had known that I wasn't going to get TV reception, I might have bagged my tailgate and gone over to his.

At what point did you change your tampon? :suspicious: Why the hell do you need all that shit??? Tailgates should include coolers of beer, hot food, camping chairs, a fold-up table and a radio. Easy set up, easy breakdown. No wonder you barely made your seat. :ohno: If you're going to set all that shit up, why even bother going in to the game? Hell, just stay home. :twocents:

What we really need it to break the country up. We really have come to a point in history where we should do that.

We really should go ahead and divide the land mass up and say that everyone who wants to live in a country where somebody like Obama would be President goes to portion A and everyone who wants to live in a country where someone like Reagan would be President goes to portion B.

Just make sure Louisiana is in portion B.

Then go with it. We've come to a point in history where the differences are too great. It can no longer be one nation. And it shouldn't be.
Well, I believe that I must tell the truth
And say things as they really are
But if I told the truth and nothing but the truth
Could I ever be a star?

Probably be easier to just have the red states start paying their own way instead of leeching off the blue states. :coffee:
