Sorta like mrclean
This was actually on the women's side.
The point still stands, though, the US men's captain is consistently awful. It's like watching a tutorial on how not to curl.

Damn, the Americans are achieving new levels of suckage this year. The half-pipe guy with two golds crapped out this year. :ohno:

There is really ZERO reason to watch the winter Olympics for anything other than staring at female ass. Goes true for Summer too as far as I'm concerned.

Watched the women's ski racing last night specifically to watch Julie Mancuso...and her ass.

Oh, and I stand corrected, 93: after seeing her up close, and hearing her speak...she really IS about a 7. But....

The prevalence of X-Games type events just does nothing for me. I would literally stab my eyes out if I had to watch more of those freestyle mogul races. Sure, it's fascinating to see people hit those moguls without blowing out a knee, but that fascination lasts for about one run.

Just way too many events any more that are judged. If you don't know who won as soon as the race/event is over then it loses a lot of luster IMO. That's why curling rocks.

Oh, I did finally catch the US/Great Britain match where the US gave up an ungodly 7 stones in one end. How does that even happen? That's almost every stone thrown in one end for a team. Did the skip not see all those red stones sitting in the house? Brutal.

I was white and scrawny, but certainly not rich.
And I guarantee you I was in better shape those four years than you've ever been in your life.

Don't know much about Slovenia,
Don't know much 'bout Slovakia,
Don't care much 'bout Croatia,
And I just can't stand Canada!

But I know that I love the "U,"
and the "S" and the "A" too,
Without golds, Sochi sucks beaucoup!
What a shitty ol' world this be!

I was in track as well...I did football, basketball, track, and baseball all 4 years of high school.

Was I going to go run axc meet at a good time? No. I still ran probably 3-4 miles a day though....anaerobic rather than aerobic workouts for me though.

I suppose if running 7 plus miles at a crack is in better shape than running 3-4 miles and doing weight and plyo set by a strength coach...then yes you were

Seeing as how you're an Iowegian, when there are only 12 boys in your entire school it's not that difficult to make the team for every sport. I bet you did gymnastics too, didn't you?

I would say basketball take more fitness than almost any other sport in High School, except swimming. Lot of short sprints, stop and change direction. Our coach made us run more than half the practice, mostly line drills. Then drills running up and down the court passing the basketball. We rested when we were running laps around the gym.

You are a North Dakota guy. Do you think basketball takes more fitness than hockey? Always thought those guys were amongst the most fit.

I would rank it pretty low in my son's HS.

1. Crew, and it's not close
2. Track/XC, run sprints AFTER running 5-8 miles a day
3. Rugby, they beat the crap out of the boys... literally

While I despise hockey, I always thought those guys had it the toughest...

This. That's why I'm like FUCK crew. That shit sucked. I like being able to breathe, so I did lacrosse, baseball and soccer instead.

Hockey is tough, but most shifts are in the two minute range. While crew is probably tough and most schools in the midwest don't have it, I would still rank swimming as the toughest. That's why the Iron Man contest are only a 3 mile swim, 26 mile run and 125 miles on bike. Wrestling is also a need-to be-fit sport.
