Re: Another FAIL by the Catholic Church
Shaela Evenson “made a willful decision to violate the terms of her contract,” which requires her to follow Catholic teachings in both her personal and professional life, Superintendent Patrick Haggarty said. “It’s a sensitive issue, and it’s unfortunate all around.”
She signed a contract and this is a private school. I see no problem. If you don't like it (which I don't) don't teach there or send your kids there.

HHmmm. Catholics also teach compassion and understanding.canyoncat wrote:Shaela Evenson “made a willful decision to violate the terms of her contract,” which requires her to follow Catholic teachings in both her personal and professional life, Superintendent Patrick Haggarty said. “It’s a sensitive issue, and it’s unfortunate all around.”

I agree, but there is a signed contract not to do this. I have no idea what the Catholic church teaches, never been to a Sunday service in my life in any church. Only times I have ever set foot in a church is for weddings and funerals. Well there was one time when I was not even one when I was baptized in the Episcopal church, but never been to a service there either.Ibanez wrote:Catholics also teach compassion and understanding.canyoncat wrote:Shaela Evenson “made a willful decision to violate the terms of her contract,” which requires her to follow Catholic teachings in both her personal and professional life, Superintendent Patrick Haggarty said. “It’s a sensitive issue, and it’s unfortunate all around.”

Agree. The Catholic Church is a business, no different than Enron, Haliburton or the Mormon Church. They should be able to hire and fire whoever the fuck they want.canyoncat wrote:I agree, but there is a signed contract not to do this. Unfortunately for the church, they choose to hire, defend and keep child molesters, rapist, sadists and other perverts, and they fire whistleblowers, pregnant women, homosexuals and people within fighting for meaningful change and less catholic bullshit dogma.

I agree with this. Hopefully Francis can make enough of a change down to the level where most everyday Catholics live. Unfortunately, I don't think he is young enough for most of his writings to take hold before he passes and then next Pope is elected to return to where things were. There is always hope though.D1B wrote:Agree. The Catholic Church is a business, no different than Enron, Haliburton or the Mormon Church. I would say change up to the level of the average catholic. The average catholic is a thousand times more compassionate, tolerant and Christlike than any pope, bishop or cardinal.andy7171 wrote:I agree with this. As a lapse Catholic and a reasonable person I hate to say this but D1b is right.D1B wrote:I would say change up to the level of the average catholic. Re: Another FAIL by the Catholic Church
I have had my struggles with the RCC the last 5 years and having OCD and battling Borderline Personality Disorder doesn't help when you battle scrupulosity as well. jp2 and bxvi did much more evil when it comes to covering up priest molestation than the church fanatics will ever admit.
It is sad to see one organization do such horrible things all in God's name and then tell us, those that leave the church, that because we leave, we're gonna go to Hell because we don't stay in the "one true church". I'm mad and sad all at the same time.

Oh. So you approve of firing a pregnant teacher because she doesn't have a husband.JoltinJoe wrote:I think a prosecutor who twists the law, distorts to truth, panders to a lynch-mob, and proffers testimony of a notorious felon, when even people in his own office know this star witness is lying, is a far more serious issue.grizzaholic wrote:

I find it amusing this is your response.
What do you think she will do now for money?

Anyone hear that sound?
That's the sound of thousands of women leaving the Catholic Church.
No woman should be involved in that patriarchal cult. Those that are are delusional or forced into it by abusive husbands and tyrannical fathers.
