You know, the reality is that there are mentally retarded people. We can try to make it sound better by saying something like "intellectually disabled" but it is what it is. And browbeating people who use the terminology isn't going to change anything. Say you got your arm amputated. Would it make it better if I say "limbologically challenged person" instead of "amputee?" Is that going to bring your arm back?

What if she'd have said, "That's stupid?" Should we get in a wad because she insulted stupid people? Actually, "stupid" and "mentally retarded" could be construed as synonyms.

In the tweet he was referring to she called him a "retard". The point is not about the righteous indignation, the point is she got owned by someone who is developmentally disabled. As for the validity of whether or not he wrote the letter, I have a cousin with D.S. who was class president, and has lived most of his adult life on his own, holding down a job. There are obviously different levels...and some relatively low functioning adults even go on to run professional baseball franchises and become president...

The only way anyone would say Coulter "got owned" by whoever wrote that blog post is if they start off wanting to believe that. Then that blog post is just one more example of politically correct drivel.

And, be honest now, do you think your cousin could write something like that blog post on his own? I'm not talking about getting the basic point across. I'm talking about the advanced vocabulary and use of language.

On one hand I don't really like Coulter that much myself. I don't like the ad hominem style she has. To the extent that we are on the same "side" on many issues I wish she conducted herself in a more "professional" manner. But one thing I do respect about her is that she does not cower when people pull the political correctness card on her such as is the case here. She stands her ground. Good for her.
