Palin has highest favorability rating

Post by VictorG »

You got to be kidding me!!! If she ends up being the GOP candidate or a big player in the GOP ticket the Dems are going to have a huge problem trying to figure out what to do.................to even make it interesting! Make their candidate bat left handed? Tie both hands of their candidate behind their back? Only campaign on Tuesdays?

One thing for sure...SNL rating will sky rocket!

I don't see how that's possible. She's done nothing since 2008 and the GOP wouldn't put her back on the ticket. Even THEY aren't that stupid. You'll have morons like SuperHornet voting for her b/c she's a woman and nothing more.

I agree with you but as long as the "Tea Party" is running the party, logic doesn't come into the conversation...

THIS

Is why there will never be fiscal sanity in this country

The tea party is a lot of things, but at its core they are for fiscal responsibility. They could be 100% straight laced without the whacko fringe, and people would still demonize them

:suspicious: No. If they didn't have whack jobs like Cruz, Palin, Bachmann,etc... they'd be better off. If they actually believed thier bullshit line of keeping government out of peoples lives, then MAYBE they'd have a better shot.

The Tea Party, as I have witnessed it, is a train wreck. Socially, their platform is discriminatory.

We've done this plenty of times. There is no need to re-hash the problems with this splinter cell of the GOP.

So you're saying that the fiscal message would be hunky dory with the entrenched interests of both major parties if only the Tea Party didn't have all the whackos? I personally am familiar with a Tea Party chapter in the Northern VA area, and they are 100% fiscal in focus. Not a peep about social conservatism, nothing.

But they, along with literally hundreds of other groups get lumped all together under the "Tea Party" label. The Tea Party is not monolithic, and it is not one group. But you'd never vote for a Tea Party candidate, because that means only one thing to you, and you wouldn't even bother finding out what his or her politics or platform actually are.

So I reiterate- the only groups calling for fiscal sanity are Tea Party groups. There are also nutjob groups that also carry the Tea party label. Since the Tea party has been successfully labeled as racist and homophobic across the board, the major parties have basically destroyed the REAL threat of the Tea party, and that has nothing to do with discrimination.

Not true...
If they were simply fiscal reformers they would be hugely embraced
But they drag some pretty ugly baggage around with them

They have many (many) ideas

Too many fingers in the pie. You go after the runaway wasteful spending in this country and you earn enemies across the spectrum.

BTW

Which Tea Party groups carry around this baggage?

Throw me some names. For every single one you name I can name one that carries none of that baggage, and that is exactly my point. To people who don't care to know, they are all the same... which makes one wonder why all these groups dont just form one big party?

Many of the groups are at odds with each other but the damage is done and MSNBC and NPR have been wildly successful at demonizing them all under the one banner

The group I am familiar with is purely libertarian and they support Rand Paul but revile the bible nuts but it doesn't matter

The broad brush won and none of these groups will be taken seriously

40+ votes to repeal/defund Obamacare is the definition of insanity. Nutjob 101. I went to a few tea party meetings in 2009 and they were preaching the taxed enough already stuff (valid point) but they ruined it by spouting off about Obama being a Kenyan socialist and blah blah blah. My experience is that they are fucked in the head.

Yes! And the mainstream media makes sure to point it out when this happens without fail!

Seriously- they do

And it gets reported as "dissent in the ranks" and the tea Party fragmenting.... except the Tea Party has ALWAYS been fragmented. That's why there are so many of these groups- because they dont completely identify with each other. It isn't completely their fault that this is the case, either... it is to the advantage of both major parties for the tea party groups to be all lumped in together in one big monolithic group of nutjobs

Some of these groups have broken away- particularly the more purely libertarian ones- but like I said before, the damage is done. They are called the Tea Party and they are all bad.

There were 2 in Charleston and then 1 in Dorchester County. Dorchester County is the epitome of nut job. I hear you. The TP in SC, Northern VA, etc.. are different. Of course. That's why I used those words MY EXPERIENCE. But what does that say about the group when you can't go from one to another and it not be somewhat consistent. Because they aren't the same groups. That is what I am saying. Some of them don't even consider themselves to be tea party groups.

That's why a libertarian like Rand Paul and a nut like Rick Joyner are both considered "Tea Party" even though they have little to nothing in common, and their supporters DO NOT consider themselves as a part of the same group.

Even you mentioned Cruz, Bachman and Palin, but you said nothing about Rand Paul, and yet how many times do we hear the words "tea party favorite" when we hear about Rand Paul in the news? That's because he is supported by libertarian parties that have been labeled Tea Party by the media and nobody else.
