Chas. South enters the 21st Century
I drove past CSU today and the field lights are up. I'll get a picture later. It's about time.

Not until they ditch their porta-potties, build some parking lots, and fix their decrepit bathrooms will Buccaneer Field enter the 21st century.

I spent the day in Charleston just yesterday, and didn't think to ride by. Dang.

I agree. Lights are overrated. I enjoy college football on a Saturday afternoon. Saturday afternoon college football in September and October is a home field advantage for us due to the Low Country HEAT.grizzaholic wrote:They are overrated.Ibanez wrote:I drove past CSU today and the field lights are up. I was expecting a link showing where they had severed ties with the Southern Baptist Covention a la Furman in 1992. There are still hardliners dooming Furman to the pits of hell.

I'm trying to remember for sure but I don't think Georgia Southern had lights during the Erk Russell era. I went to a couple of playoff games there when I was living on St. Simons Island and Tracy Ham was playing. I'm not certain but I don't think they had lights.
But it was a great atmosphere either way. That, my friends, was the essence of I-AA football.
Very sad that Georgia Southern is in the process of consigning itself to attempting to be something it's not.

Well, I believe that I must tell the truth
And say things as they really are
But if I told the truth and nothing but the truth
Could I ever be a star?

The Mecca didn't have them until the 2012 season. Too bad we've only utilized them once so far.JohnStOnge wrote:I'm trying to remember for sure but I don't think Georgia Southern had lights during the Erk Russell era. In Missoula you want the afternoon temps to keep you warm. In Charleston, you went the sun down to avoid melting. It makes a great deal of sense to have lights in places like Statesboro, Conway & Charleston. I know down here in Texas they are an absolute must due to the heat.

Adding lights is not entering the 21st century. It is entering the 19th century.Ibanez wrote:I drove past CSU today and the field lights are up. I'll get a picture later. It's about time.
Welcome to the 19th century Baptist College!

Wow, what a tiny stadium. Why would anyone want to play there.
Here is a link to the Towson Stadium. I think one of the best facilites on the east cost.

It doesn't really get that cold at night in Missoula until December so they would only need them occassionally these days.Sly Fox wrote:In Missoula you want the afternoon temps to keep you warm. I was talking about OUR AD.
His hiring of Houston might be too late to save him... we'll see how Houston does (did I mention I was really looking forward to the no-huddle option) and if it can save Leckonby.
