It's all theater...on both sides.Cluck U wrote:I know you are kidding, but I'll borrow your vehicle to address the anal spelunker.kalm wrote: Nice campaign ad bought with federal emergency relief $'s.
The money was going to be spent on a set of tourism driven commercials in order to get tourists to come to the New Jersey beaches. More tourists = more money for those, "supposedly" impacted by the storm. I say "supposedly" because there were plenty of areas that were OK, but everyone wants a piece of the pie.
Anyway, this is not new news. It was reported a LONG time ago...and some Democrats were upset because a firm said that they had bid $2MM less than the one Christie chose but were not chosen because they didn't want to feature Christie. Of course, nothing was said as to the quality of the firm's proposal, or WHY they would not want to feature Christie (who was THE face of the storm).
Now, if someone could prove that the ONLY reason the more expensive firm was chosen was because Christie wanted to put on a campaign promo, and not a well done tourism TV add, then you might have something that might bother the Liberal people that have already spittle coming out of their mouths. The anal retentive are called anal retentive for a reason.![]()
However, as a fellow UD grad already stated, these adds ran in markets outside of New Jersey (although they do cross over into the Tri-state areas surrounding Jersey) and they were well received. Furthermore, Christie actually was a great face to run in those adds as most people trusted him, liked him (versus other politicians), and were willing to rally to his cause of rebuilding the area. I have a friend with a business in Brigantine, and he said everyone in the area liked the adds and thought it sent the right message to get tourists to come back to the Jersey beaches (people were booking other beaches - DE, MD, VA because they thought all of Jersey was destroyed). But hey, let's not listen to those who might have actual input.
The Donks are taking time to rehash this issue because they think they see a wounded Christie. They are using the deaths and damage of the victims of the hurricane to make political points. dback and his ilk should be ashamed.![]()
Oh, we should be hoping that Holder & Co. are expanding their investigation into misused funds by taking down every "Welcome to __________, Governor ____________" sign in the country...and look into any violations that Obama committed when he, for political purposes, told the world how we found Osama (and the resulting deaths to innocent people due to the release of those tactics).![]()

For all the bloviating about F&F and how supposedly no one was held accountable, that's just patenly untrue. If you don't like Holder and think he should have been gone months ago, fine. But enough with the BS about nothing being done.

Oh, yeah. Holder REALLY dropped the hammer, didn't he?Other ATF managers reportedly face similar fates, and announcements could be made soon, though neither they nor their attorneys would confirm it. They are: Mark Chait, who was ATF's assistant director for field operations; Bill Newell, who was ATF's Special Agent in Charge of Phoenix; and George Gillett, Newell's second in command. Chait's attorney David Laufman stated in an email: "Mr. Chait has not been advised of any adverse finding or recommendation by the Professional Review Board at ATF, and any such action would be utterly without merit."
Another key Fast and Furious figure who's leaving the Justice Department today is Attorney General Eric Holder's chief of staff Gary Grindler. Grindler was faulted by the Justice Department's Inspector General for not informing Holder about the "significant and troubling" link between ATF's Operation Fast and Furious, and rifles found at the murder of Border Patrol agent Brian Terry on December 15, 2010.
In announcing his departure this week, Holder made no mention of Fast and Furious, and said Grindler "has demonstrated time and again his good judgment and an ability to make the tough - and correct - decisions." Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., who led the House investigation into Fast and Furious, said Grindler's "departure from the Justice Department is warranted and long overdue."
Fucking HOLDER was the one who should have been taken out back and shot. But he used Obama's "I didn't know anything" defense....which seems to work very well for donks.

It has been pretty well established through emails and other documentary evidence that he did know, and in fact once DoJ was called on it, they retracted and said Holder didn't understand the question. Yep, nothing to see here.
http://www.cbsnews.com/news/atf-fast-an ... july-2010/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Money quote: "The Justice Department told CBS News that the officials in those emails were talking about a different case started before Eric Holder became Attorney General. And tonight they tell CBS News, Holder misunderstood that question from the committee - he did know about Fast and Furious - just not the details."
Those emails that were circulating weren't from worker bees. They were between high ranking attorneys on Holder's staff. They never in a million years would have admitted that if the guy wasn't in danger of a perjury charge (that never would have been prosecuted... like the contempt charge).
I worked in law enforcement for long enough to know what was going on here. But hell, you dont have to have worked in that field to know that the whole thing stinks. I guess this is one of those suspensions of disbelief you have to engage in that Senator Clinton once described.

In a Rasmussen poll of likely New Jersey voters — taken following Christie's lengthy press conference in which he apologized for his staffers' involvement in the George Washington Bridge closure — nearly 40 percent said the incident would have no impact on their decision to vote for him in a potential presidential race, while 14 percent said they would be more likely to vote for him.
