If THOSE commercials are what they're blathering on about, this is even a bigger joke than Bridgegate. I mean, I would NEVER expect the governor of a state to try to convince tourists to travel to his state.

I haven't seen these before but was curious to see them now that there is a big stink about them. What is interesting is that there is no mention as to who he, or is family, is. No subtitle stating "Governor.....", so to claim that it was "campaign" oriented for his re-election may be a bit of a stretch.AZGrizFan wrote:If THOSE commercials are what they're blathering on about, this is even a bigger joke than Bridgegate. I will be interested to hear the reason for taking the higher bid however. At least the quality is good. If they were of shitty quality, then......

The overwhelming majority of the Stronger than the Storm commercials were aired in neighboring states - NOT in New Jersey, as they were meant for tourism purposes. This one guys seems like a stretch to me....

It is good to see the media actually knows how to give a good scandal its due attention. I never saw so much handwringing on the morning coffee circuit.
Then again, the real explanation is that running with this story won't jeopardize any potential invites to dinner with the Clintons, or scrutiny from the IRS or NSA. So it's all good.

Re: Uh Oh Christie...
Actually, I know for a fact that Christie was lying in his press conference. Here's the quote:
"As I mentioned to you earlier, I spent all day yesterday digging into, talking to folks, getting to the bottom of things. I know there was much discussion yesterday about what was I doing. Well, let me tell you everybody: I was blindsided yesterday morning. I was done with my workout yesterday morning and got a call from my communications director at about 8:50, 8:55, informing me of this story that had just broken on the Bergen Record website. That was the first time I knew about this."
Can anyone else see the bold faced lie?

I'm surprised at the Republicans who dislike Christie. He's your only shot at keeping Hillary Clinton out of the White House from Jan 2017 through Jan 2025.

Fist of all, the video is lying....not everyone is living a life as vivid as JSO's.Chizzang wrote:

It all depends on how seriously you take this kind of thing
And you obviously think its very serious - so you judge them - through a very serious lens
In truth none of it really matters
The continual Political shenanigans and maneuverings are meaningless & millimetrical pomp
What really matters (for each of is) is what we do with our deeper (inner) personal lives
And to call somebody who understand this an idiot says a lot more about YOU... than it does them
Secondly, John is calling people idiots for voting a middle ground. That has nothing to do with whether those people are doing anything worthwhile with their deeper (inner) personal lives (or whether those people actually understand that, "the continual Political shenanigans and maneuverings are meaningless & millimetrical pomp" Heck, most of those folks don't bother voting.
Lastly, for now, JSO catches more crappie than anyone on here (I've seen pictures)...so it seems he is not the only one judging people, which says a lot about those folks than their judgments about him.

Re: Uh Oh Christie...
I know you are kidding, but I'll borrow your vehicle to address the anal spelunker.kalm wrote: Nice campaign ad bought with federal emergency relief $'s.
The money was going to be spent on a set of tourism driven commercials in order to get tourists to come to the New Jersey beaches. More tourists = more money for those, "supposedly" impacted by the storm. I say "supposedly" because there were plenty of areas that were OK, but everyone wants a piece of the pie.
Anyway, this is not new news. It was reported a LONG time ago...and some Democrats were upset because a firm said that they had bid $2MM less than the one Christie chose but were not chosen because they didn't want to feature Christie. Of course, nothing was said as to the quality of the firm's proposal, or WHY they would not want to feature Christie (who was THE face of the storm).
Now, if someone could prove that the ONLY reason the more expensive firm was chosen was because Christie wanted to put on a campaign promo, and not a well done tourism TV add, then you might have something that might bother the Liberal people that have already spittle coming out of their mouths. The anal retentive are called anal retentive for a reason.
However, as a fellow UD grad already stated, these adds ran in markets outside of New Jersey (although they do cross over into the Tri-state areas surrounding Jersey) and they were well received. Furthermore, Christie actually was a great face to run in those adds as most people trusted him, liked him (versus other politicians), and were willing to rally to his cause of rebuilding the area. I have a friend with a business in Brigantine, and he said everyone in the area liked the adds and thought it sent the right message to get tourists to come back to the Jersey beaches (people were booking other beaches - DE, MD, VA because they thought all of Jersey was destroyed). But hey, let's not listen to those who might have actual input.
The Donks are taking time to rehash this issue because they think they see a wounded Christie. They are using the deaths and damage of the victims of the hurricane to make political points. dback and his ilk should be ashamed.
Oh, we should be hoping that Holder & Co. are expanding their investigation into misused funds by taking down every "Welcome to __________, Governor ____________" sign in the country...and look into any violations that Obama committed when he, for political purposes, told the world how we found Osama (and the resulting deaths to innocent people due to the release of those tactics).
